Here are some reviews. the first is from the programmer/host of a radio show in Austrailia (FM 106.7 ) that plays mostly guitar based music...they did a ROBOT CD giveaway and are still playing some of the tracks from the cd.
Hi Allen,
The package arrived yesterday (Tuesday) and I'm just giving the CD a
listen now. So far so good! There's plenty of material here that's
suitable for my show. You've got a great sense of melody to go with the
awesome chops, and a unique style which is probably the most important
thing.
I'll play a cut or two on the 18th, and follow it up with air play over
the next few shows. I'm sure the listeners are gonna love it!
Cheers,
Steve Passiouras .. FM 106.7 greater Melbourne Australia
Here are some other CD reviews...
Genre: [Guitar-oriented Instrumental Rock/New Age/Electronic]
Music: 8.5
Production: 7.5
The first thing that crossed my mind when I received Allen "Robot" Van Wert's debut solo album 'Robot' was that here's a guy who's definitely into Buckethead. That really drew my attention, since I'm into freaky guitar instrumentals in the vein of Buckethead, Mattias 'IA' Eklundh and the like. I assume Van Wert has also listened to the big names of instrumental rock (namely Joe Satriani and Steve Vai among others), since there are some similarity in his guitar licks to the aforementioned artists.
The material on 'Robot' is quite diverse guitar-oriented instrumental music. At times there's over-the-top experimentality but from time to time Van Wert refrains from shredding and concentrates on melodic, laid-back guitar playing instead. Basically with 'Robot' Allen Van Wert proves that he has both sense of melody and some chops, but at times he slightly overdoes the guitar shredding part. Nonetheless, the album as a whole is rather intriguing recording to listen due to its variety (let alone its experimental edge). In addition, there are some really cool parts here and there making the album somewhat inspiring record to listen from guitarist's point of view.
The weakest aspect of 'Robot' is the production, although it's quite good. However, the distorted rhythm guitar tone could have been thicker, and also some other sounds could have been more to the point. Nevertheless, mostly the sounds are atmospheric and the guitar leads are occasionally rather apposite (both tone-wise as regarding the performance). Unfortunately, slight distortion occurred few times, but nothing grave.
Allen Van Wert's 'Robot' is an album that favourably surprised me... I didn't know what to expect although I had my presumptions about it. There are a lot of great songs on 'Robot', and in case you listen to guitar-oriented instrumental music you should definitely give this album a try. If I was to name some highlights on this album, I'd stress 'Magnets', 'Boundless', 'The Rift', 'Turbo and Ozone', 'Rain on the Window', 'The Others' and 'Sweet Dreams'.

Allen “Robot” Van Wert can play guitar, and on his debut he plays it with abandon. His chops are worthy, and the multiple tones and lead variations he plays are reminiscent of axemen like Joe Satriani, Steve Vai and Eric Johnson.
The 18 tracks here represent a broad range of styles and moods. There are techno and electronica elements on more than a few of the songs, giving the album a sci-fi, futuristic sense about it. This album is highly recommended for devotees of progressive rock guitar. One never knows; this guy might be a third of G3 someday.

I recently recorded some lead guitar for Jesper Kyd. He is the composer of some big name video game release soundtracks... Hitman 1 2 and 3 and Splinter Cell 1 2 and 3 to name a few. The recordings I did with him will be on a new game due out around christmas 2005 or early 2006. Its by the same development team as Hitman and should be another big name title. His website is www.jesperkyd.com. He listened to my cd and called me immediatly to start working together on some music.
I have been a top 5 guitarist on guitar challenge type websites but stopped doing that about 2 years ago. Was world champ on www.guitarwar.com before I left... it was fun .. but they didnt promote creativity enough for me. I see music as an art.. it cannot be judged.
Things some nice ROBOT fans have said...
Deric DeRoos: I'll tell you what. When i saw you play those robot tricks live it sent more chills down my spine than any other player I've ever seen live. Every one was real freaked out when you did that, i could tell by the looks on their faces, I heard people saying "what"!, and oh my God when your where playing those.

Wilkes-Barre area cover/tribute act "Citizen DICK", in need of a second guitarist. Will need to play both lead and rhythm in several alt. rock/Grunge cover songs for an early 90's music tribute. Must have pro equipment and pro attitude. Presently the act consists of four professional, seasoned musicians. There are large venues as well as established management/booking agencies anticipating the completion of this act. We currently rehearse twice weekly and sometimes three times. We have pro rehearsal space and pro equipment for practice. The venues we will be interested in playing will be the bigger venues along the east coast. And in time, possibly traveling out the westward way(depending on the success of the act here on the east coast). This is a great opportunity for a musician to get stage experience, as well as performance time with truly PRO musicians. You can get back to us through one of two MySpace sites:
