About me: My name is Roxanne Modafferi, and I'm a professional female Mixed Martial Artist. I'm also an English teacher in a reputable English Conversation school, Berlitz, in Japan. I also do some translating and interpreting.
I graduated from the University of Massachusetts, 2005, with a degree in Japanese Language and Literature, minor in linguistics.
In July 2005, I was hired by Berlitz to teach English to kids and adults, and moved to Japan (in Kanagawa ken).
I'm very happy. ^_^
My life goals are:
- to become the strongest woman fighter in the world.
-translate Japanese-English for money
-interpret Japanese-English for money
-publish books and articles
-become fluent in Japanese
About me:
I love playing video games (Tomb Raider, Mario Kart, Donkey Kong, Bomber Man2, Twisted Metal 4, etc, but not RPGs) and computer games (MYST, Populous) when I have the time (which is like never). I love training BJJ, grappling, and MMA the most. Right now I'm spending my time writing my book, over training, teaching English, and trying to not get injured. I'm also writing a fantasy novel and an autobiography.

Hi! I wish I had gotten to see you fight on tv...hopefully soon! I am an aspiring female mma fighter and I would really love it if you could send some advice my way. Thank you! :)
I haven't been able to find the fight video online but it sounds like you just got caught. I heard you were still smiling after the loss, have to admire the sportsmanship, the truest testament of character is how we handle defeat. Unless you're samurai. Then defeat isn't a test of character so much as a precursor to mandatory suicide. I like your way much better :P
Don't worry about the loss, you are awesome and beat her before already. Aoki came back after loosing to Hansen the second fight =x. RUBBER MATCH!!!!!!!
ROXXXY.. whens ur bday? saw ur a libra on ur blog.. mine is October 3rd! woot Youre gonna whoop her ace tomorrow!1 !!@^ woooooooooooooooo so pumped .. then comes cyborg! GL GRRRL
omg omg omg I just realized you were fighting this weekend. I am sooooooo pumped. I havn't seen you fight in a long time and you are my favorite!!!!!!!! Awesome. I'm ssooooo pumped. You are the best!!!
Awesome that you'll be fighting in Strikeforce, Roxy! After you dispatch of Coenen again and take Cyborg's gold, then you should demand a shot at Fedor :)All kidding aside, your fans in the US love and respect you in bunches and we are very excited to see you make the most of what's before you!!!
know if she has any weaknesses. I pretty much see her as a dangerous, well-rounded opponent," she said. "I’m just going to go in and assume she’ll do everything right. I have to focus on my game and roll with it."
"I’m going to punch her in the face, and execute my new power-move: su-pa-tobi-hiza-bakku-fisuto."
Not overlooking her opponent in any way, the chance to fight for a title could loom overhead for the winner of this fight, and Modafferi admits it would be a dream come true.
"To be honest, Cyborg is big and scary! I never suspected I’d have the chance to fight her, since she’s out of my normal weight division. But my dream is to defeat all women fighters in the world," Modafferi said. "So she would be just another opponent to beat on the way to reaching my dreams."
As she prepares for the biggest opportunity of her life, Modafferi also thanked the people that helped get her to the stage on which she will perform next Saturday night in Chicago.
"I just went freelance, actually, but I want to thank all my former training partners at Wajyutsu Keisyukai, as well as ‘Big Brother’ Hiroyuki Abe and Megumi Fuji for their guidance, and my fantastic coach Kiuma Kunioku. Thanks to Sprawl, iFight Athletics, and also my bosses for being so understanding," Modafferi said in closing.
Roxanne Modafferi will face Marloes Coenen at Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Rogers on Nov. 7 in suburban Chicago.

Patiently awaiting her opportunity to step into the Strikeforce cage, Roxanne Modafferi will finally get her chance, albeit on only nine days notice, as she faces Marloes Coenen in a fight that could determine the number one contender for Cris “Cyborg” Santos’ 145-pound women's title.
A veteran of several top promotions, such as GCM and Hook 'N' Shoot, Modafferi brings a ton of experience into her second fight with Coenen. Modafferi defeated the Dutch fighter by split decision in mid-2007. Working with manager, Shu Hirata, Modafferi has spent the majority of her time in Japan, but now looks to conquer American women's MMA.
"I've been training my butt off consistently," Modafferi said in an interview with MMAWeekly.com on Thursday. "I don'
