Rubin Kodheli (cello/compositions), in collaboration with drummer Garrett Brown and guitarist Justin Sabaj, has brought the music of Blues in Space to the forefront of avant-rock. As a graduate of Juilliard in classical music, he has been performing with Henry Threadgill, Dave Douglas, Makoto Ozone, Wadada Leo Smith, Wyclef Jean,Joan LaBarabara, Mario Grigorov, Elliot Humberto Kavee and many others.
Blues in Space is finishing recording their first album. Produced and recorded by Shane Stoneback at Treefort Recordings, they were able to capture the sum of each musician's inspirations. Due out in late summer 2008, the recording will feature Josh Frank on the trumpet. More to come....
