Hi! Ryka here. I'm a writer, martial artist, and composer. My performances are part storytelling, part music, part spoken word, and part dance.
I am a touring artist and have recently appeared at Sarah Lawrence College, Wesleyan University, Ladyfest South, the National Queer Arts Festival, the University of Florida, and San Francisco Pride.
I have an MFA in Creative Writing from Cornell University, am a founder of Cornell University's Asian American Playhouse, and am a recipient of a University Award from the Academy of American Poets. On the music side, I've worked with the American Association of Hiroshima-Nagasaki A-Bomb Survivors, and two of my songs were adopted by the group as its official “Songs of Peace.”
I am always looking for places to perform, so if you want to have me at a show, send me a message! :)
