Born 1976, in Tehran, Iran, is a contemporary artist living and working in New York

We left our woes behind, with only echoes of our previous lives remaining. Seeking continuation, time and refuge, human beings, attempting to survive our selves, our lives and our present locations.

My work is my story told. It is the mirror image of my life, my environments, my history, my present and my memories. I began as a painter, and I still feel as if I am painting, only now its with textiles and objects rather than paint. My work is instinctual, its innate and deeply rooted, its almost as if it was ingrained within me, just as memory and history are ingrained within us. My memories are like pages in a book that I carry with me wherever I go.

Through my work I am attempting to give birth to something new and as a result communicate new ways of looking and thinking. Its about falling, standing and attempting to survive it all. In the end we are all immigrants, we are all in exile, we are all just visiting and we all simply want and need to belong to something, to somebody and to somewhere.

Metamorphosing and transforming for the means of surviving it all, our foundations lay, but our houses have burned to the ground. Building castles in the sky, for a species that cannot fly, brick by limb we tear it down. Thinking that we are moving forwards, yet moving backwards all along.
