New millennium melodic thrashers Savage Messiah hail from London, England, where they were formed by vocalist, lead guitarist, and all-around creative force Dave Silver shortly after the demise of his previous band, Headless Cross. Within a few months, Silver had almost single-handedly recorded the band's 2007 debut, Spitting Venom but added drummer Pete Hunt (ex-Marshall Law), bassist Chris O'Toole and co-lead guitarist James Tyler for Savage Messiah's live appearances. Both of the latter would be dispensed with before year's end, though." Eduardo Rivadavia, All Music Guide
Savage Messiah was formed in 2007 in London, England. The band consists of lead guitarist/vocalist Dave Silver, lead guitarist Sy Taplin, bassist Sasha Cron and drummer Ernie Nogara.
In October 2007 the band released its debut cd "Spitting Venom" via SMR Productions, the bands own label which was picked up for distribution by Plastic Head. The album was produced by Andy Faulkner (Bolt Thrower, Siam) and received great press from all corners of the world, seeing the band drawing comparisons with acts such as Judas Priest, Arch Enemy, Carcass, Lamb of God, Metallica and many others.
Ultimately the record would catch the attention of Candlelight Records who signed the band in January 2009.
The guys immediately entered The Ecology Room studios in Deal, England to work with the Legendary, Grammy Nominated producer Chris Tsangarides. Famous for his production on such seminal albums as "Painkiller" by Judas Priest, "Tattooed Millionares" by Bruce Dickinson as well as notching up production credits for bands such as Thin Lizzy, Black Sabbath, Yngwie Malmsteen and more recently Biomechanical as well as many many others.
Recording was finished in March before the band recruited Scott Atkins (Cradle of Filth, Gama Bomb) to mix the effort.
A release date as well as much more is expected to be announced shortly.
"The fine thrashing qualities as displayed by a memorable, refreshingly immediate opening triplet comprised of the title track, "Frontline," and "Servant to Your Death." Just a little while later the band proves that they also think beyond thrash with a classy classic metal number called "Conspiracy in Silence" (think Priest, Maiden, etc.)..." Ed Rivadavia - Allmusic.com
"If you're a true fan of Thrash or Metal in general this is one you need for the collection!" Torch - Rock And A Hard Place
“There’s something going on, on the island in terms of Thrash-Metal. After the debut-album of EVILE on Earache, SAVAGE MESSIAH comes along with a new thrash- hammer. Spitting Venom is top-class mid 80’s bay area Thrash, which is spot on. Try to imagine a Metal, not too playful HEATHEN, classic TESTAMENT,VIOLENCE and EXODUS sounds and bonds of old English genre-heroes (XENTRIX) and you can picture what an excellent material is awaiting on this CD. Precise, aggressive cutting riffs in combination with an excellent lead-guitar, which comes along with wild, still melodic, solos……” In Laermbelaestigung Zine
"Without a doubt, Savage Messiah were the most professional act of the night, and with renowned perfectionist Dave Silver at the helm I was expecting nothing less. Dave may not be the liveliest front man on the planet, but he has charisma by the bucketload. The band sail through a lengthy set like a well oiled thrash machine, as the two guitarists’ trade off riffs. Their bass heavy technical sound is filled with scintillating lead guitar harmonies and solos while the drums speed ahead at full throttle as tracks like “Spitting Venom” and “Servant To Your Death” are polished to perfection." Luci Herbert - Metal Team UK
“Savage Messiah is playing a melodic Thrash, which finds its roots in the old bay area Thrash, but also includes elements of the “Island-Thrash”.
Although they are aggressive and possibly blasting every speaker into bits and pieces, they still keep the lead-guitar quite melodic. Everybody who thinks of Testament, is quite right. Not without a reason, the release is available at Code7/Plastic Head.” 8.5...Obliveon.de
“Savage Messiah are certainly no slouches when it comes to penning an incisive passage, with songs tearing it up one minute, before sinking into a relaxed melody, prior to unexpected smacking you in the chops with their next big lick or memorable chorus” 4.25/5 Lars Christiansen – The Metal Crypt.com
"As soon as I heard Spitting Venom on their Myspace site it was obvious why Silver opted to start again. The new material was on a completely different level. It was nastier, heavier, faster and more accomplished. I was hooked from the start and now, not so far down the line, the band has self-released the 'Spitting Venom' E.P with seven tracks plus a bonus tune. It's no more an E.P than a mini album and even after several listens I was gutted that it was only an E.P. I was, and still am, itching for more from Silver and the gang because 'Spitting Venom' is simply brilliant." Pete Worrall - Room13.co.uk
..You can’t be a prophet, but considering the high quality, it is just a matter of time, until the labels are queuing for SAVAGE MESSIAH.
The four lads are continuing where, once British heroes like XENTRIX, SABBATH, DEATHWISH or ONSLAUGHT stopped, and they raise the English Thrash-Flag once more. A MUST-BUY for every old school thrasher, buy or die!” In Laermbelaestigung Zine
“Savage Messiah have put together a fine debut which bears all the hallmarks of classic thrash but brought up to date with very modern production values. I would recommend even if you have just a passing interest in thrash that you have a listen and see what you think.” 8/10 Stuart- Revelationz.net
“Savage Messiah cleverly combine sort of Testament-Exodus tinged old school thrash, mixing it with pure heavy metal - and as a result of this, it..s simply impossible to resist what they do on SPITTING VENOM. They really have a good touch in everything they do, and they are surely not making any compromises to please the masses” 4.5/5 Luxi Lahtinen Metal-Rules.com
Production on this 8 song EP is solid, punchy, with a high emphasis on clarity and a supine even mix. Lyrical matter runs the measure of intellect and interest and the words fit each of the songs like a glove Wes Rhodes - Voices from The DarkSide
“The potentials are definitely there and so are the intentions to play some good ole Thrash that holds its distance from the insipid music genres that at some point flood the Metal scene. Spitting Venom will (actually should) make some heads turn and will give them the opportunity for a proper record deal to produce their next full-length album.” 7/10 Metal Express Radio.com
"Beside the obvious thrash metal references there's also a bit of NWOBHM heritage to Savage Messiah's thrash. It took me a few spins to really appreciate it but once accustomed to it I can't wait to hear more!!!" Anders Ekdahl - BattleHelm
“The point is that we're talking about a highly addictive speed metal band that musically takes your breath away like a punch in the stomach.” 8.5/10 Nick "Verkaim" Parastatidis
"For old school thrash metal addicted metalheads, do not waste the opportunity to get Savage Messiah's debut EP, and if you assume EMO is dominating the music panorama in England, Savage Messiah are the breathing proof that you're wrong. This is a top quality band proving English Metal never was, it's not and never will be dead." 9/10 Bob Riot Strike Magazine Brazil
