There has been a bit of communication difficulty in recent years concerning the phrase “Texas Music”. In the past few years there have been a slew of slightly eccentric singer songwriters from our great state that have reaped success while all the while circumventing the Nashville machine. For this they have my respect and admiration. But many have come to identify what they do as “Texas Music” with ignorance that Texas has a long rich musical History. Texas Gold formed to celebrate the long great history of Texas Music. All the way back to people like Eck Robertson who recorded the first Country records then on to Bob Wills and Milton Brown who fused Traditional Country Music with Swing and Blues and then onto the Honky Tonk pioneers like Floyd Tillmam, Lefty Frizzell, and Hank Thompson who planted the seeds for later greats like Ray Price and Johnny Bush. Fiddler/Vocalist Sean Orr cut his teeth in the honky tonks and dancehalls all over the state and has assembled a veritable crew of Texas Music Maestros who are keeping the rich tradition alive and spirited. Texas Gold is a celebration of Texas Music throughout the generations. There is never a dull moment, fun is to be had by all.
