  • Bio

Nick Alfonse – 10/20/10 Laying the foundation for his musical career brick by brick, Fort Worth, Texas' Sean Russell is building himself from the ground up to reach towering new heights as time moves on. Blending a soothing, catchy, and inspired form of indie, rock, and pop, Russell is an incredibly determined and motivated songwriter, musician, promoter, and manager, who serves as a veritable jack-of-all-trades capable of handling every aspect of his profession. With international tours and fresh tunes on the horizon, this is just the beginning for this young, versatile Texan. Taking his first leap into the musical pool at the young age of ten, Russell picked up percussion, then keyboards, and eventually taught himself to play guitar and sing while in college. His skills continued to grow over time, especially during his Army service in Korea, where he wrote some of his earlier material. After meeting Todd Pipes of Deep Blue Something, Russell worked with members of the popular alternative rock band to lay down the tracks for his debut record, To This Point, released in 2005. Influenced by a variety of artists, especially early 80's rock and British alternative bands, Russell draws from musicians such as The Cocteau Twins, The Cure, and New Order, as well as his local peers like Calhoun and Flickerstick to create a diverse and clever sound. While drawing comparisons to bands such as Elvis Costello or Pete Yorn mixed with Arcade Fire or Spoon, his music continues to grow and mature over time, as he is one artist who isn't afraid to write and rewrite until achieving the desired result. Russell's latest effort, Mystery of the New, a project years in the making, was released in June 2010, containing 13 songs of fiery, riveting tracks which showcase his vast and chameleon-like musical talents. The record also generated press attention, as the band performed on Fox's Good Day show in Dallas, and continues to drum up airplay on local stations 91.7 KXT and 88.7 KTCU, as well as AAA stations in Wisconsin, Michigan, Minnesota, and Indiana. The tireless singer songwriter not only wrote all of the music, but handles literally everything by himself, and has successfully landed sponsors for international tours, promotion, and spots on major festivals such as SXSW. In addition to their local appearances throughout the local area, look for the Fort Worth outfit to hit the UK in February of 2011, including London, Dublin, Newcastle, and Glasgow. Russell is also devoting his efforts to releasing a music video for the single "Vivian," along with unearthing television licensing opportunities for his songs. Visit the official website or MySpace page for music, photos, and information, and both albums are available for purchase from iTunes and CDBaby.
