SECTION 25 formed in Lancashire in 1977and are arguably the most enigmatic of all the Factory bands....
Making music again after nearly tow decades is no mere saunter down memory lane...Powerful,mesmerising and expressive,maturity has only added further gravitas to their already formidable myth.
Perhaps THE most maverick of tha bands that were part of the now legendary FACTORY records roster, their 80's explorations of hypnotic basslines, loops, thrusting motorik drums, feedback and Zen-like vocals to produce a truly unique and rousing sound.Pre-dated chillout, ambient and massive beats by over a decade and haven't dated one jot, but no surprise there because SXXV never followed fashion in that most image-obbsessed of era's, when many were more concerned about running out of hair-gel than making any meaningful musical statement...It's no less striking now - their classic Northern Sound defines punk and electro in one.
Bookended by Roger Wikeley on bass/keyboards and Ian Butterworth on guitar are the original heart of this most original of bands, namely the Cassidy brothers, Vin taking care of the beats and Larry, upfront on the vocals and filling in with some occasional bass/keys....SXXV are back to brood, drone and chant ! .....About time too....
With their back-catalogue recently repackaged in impressive style by LTM Records and a new album in the pipeline, SXXV are a name from the past who are determined to embrace the future......
