About me:
As imagine me by Kirk Franklin plays in the background, it tells a little bit of the story of my life. Most people know me from Cycle 11 of Americas Next top Model and the now famous quote that I recited oh so many times lol… “Hi, I’m ShaRaun and I am Americas next top model.” For years I stumbled out of bed at 5:00 am to begin my long busy day, first starting it looking at black bold print I called my list of goals, plastered on my bright orange colored bedroom walls. Blurred vision, I read from the big pink piece of paper with the black bold print of my goals and aspirations. And then looking in the mirror and telling myself I could achieve anything that I put my mind to, I am beautiful and I am my goals . This regime of pronouncing my goals for the future is what helped me day by day through life as I repeatedly accomplished all short and long term goals I set for myself. Reciting my goals day by day acted as the positive assurance that I needed to erase the past insecurities I suffered from. It helped me to believe in my self and have confidence as I attempted to reach my goals. I was raised and bought up that if you want something in life you have to name it and claim it and believe in yourself because if you don’t believe in your self no one will. I often referred to a great quote by Marcus Garvey, “If you have no confidence in self, you are twice defeated in the race of life. With confidence, you have won even before you have started.” Saying that I am Americas Next top Model was not me being this cocky person but rather believing in my self and reminding my self that I could become it. As funny as it may sound I still tell myself this lol. In setting goals we often box ourselves into time limits. But I believe goals are like a fetus in the womb, they develop in just the right way at the right time. Eventually labor will start. It is painful and sometimes long, but eventually the child comes to life. Its so weird how your life can do a total 360 in the matter of a couple of months. For me a dream became reality confirming that anything you want in life you can achieve. Just six months ago I was a busy high school senior from the southwest side of Chicago teaching my Pom Pon team new routines and dreaming of one day being a model. And now six months later I’m an Americas Next top model contestant pursing my modeling career. I went from being clueless about the industry to more wise and informed like a sponge soaking up every piece of information and advice thrown my way. Even after being eliminated from the show I wouldn’t trade it in for the world. I have truly grown sooo much not only as a model but as a person. At he age of only 18 I have a bright future ahead of me and I am more than eager to embark on this new journey in life. I appreciate all the fans I do have sooo much and all the supportive messages I have received. I still find it weird when someone wants my autograph or to take a picture with me because I just see my self as just this normal girl who happened to be on Americas next top model. But I love all the positive feedback it is very encouraging. I reply to mostly all my messages that I receive so don’t be scared to send one. God is soooo good and soooo amazing and I am just so thankful for all that has come my way and humbled by what is to come!
