About me:

Photobucket I try to make my next gig information obvious on this website by constantly updating here on the "calendar/events" section, my blogs, and my headline, instead of people repeatedly e-mailing me and asking me "when is your next gig?!......" So for updates, LOOK NO FURTHER THAN HERE! I also delete all the past gigs usually by the next day so there is no confusion. No, I was not one of of the kids in the Depeche Mode 101 movie....to answer that same question I always get....but I was a part of that scene, time and place and grew up listening to WLIR/WDRE. I am known mainly for 80s new wave and post-punk, but I spin all genres of music and have very eclectic taste. I began studying music at age 9 as the protegee of the Director at Westminster Choir College Conservatory in Princeton, NJ, doing classical piano recitals at Princeton University by age 12. I then went on to a performing arts high school, studying acting and music, and majored in theatre/music in college. I spent too many nights during the late 80s and early 90s clubbing, not realizing what a great period of time it was for music - I got to be a part of the acid house scene in London in 1988 while in school there and the deep house scene in London in 1989 while working there, and the acid house nights with the Michael Alig/DJ Keoki in NYC summer of '88 at the Tunnel, The World, etc. (if you can remember these nights/days, you weren't there). I spent 1991 to 2000 performing in professional off-broadway and off-off-broadway theatres in New York, performing in mostly underground and avant garde theatre and still sometimes do. I spent a year as a piano player for a Chinese opera company. I started working in the club scene in 2003 when I hosted and promoted my first party, in midtown Manhattan at Siberia bar and packed the entire club, making an excellent profit. I didn't learn how to DJ until January of 2005, when I started to have my own regular Depeche Mode parties at Rare in the Meatpacking District. By July of 2005, I had a new monthly residency at The Raven Cafe in the East Village, spinning psychedelic, glam, garage, new wave and post-punk. The Raven Cafe burned down in a fire so I began spinning at Boulevard Tavern in Greenpoint. I then had a weekly residency at Fix Cafe in Williamsburg (obscure new wave, 80s pop, punk), a bi-weekly residency after that at Loki Lounge in Park Slope (new wave, rock/pop/world/funk/soul/garage/psych), a weekly guest residency at Luke & Leroy "Corrosion" new wave party, a weekly residency at Mr. Dennehy's Pub (rock/pop/world) and in 2007, a monthly residency at Double Down Saloon in the East Village (hardcore/punk/post punk). I have guested and/or hosted my own parties at the following dance clubs and bars: Remote Lounge (new wave), Rebel (new wave), Karma (rock/pop), Blu Lounge (Depeche Mode party & new wave party), Planet Thailand (world), ICU Bar, The Mean Fiddler (new wave), QXTs (new wave), Giorgio Gomelsky's Pad (60s psych), Abstraction (dark wave/industrial), "Asylum" (new wave), Opus 22 (new wave), Trash Bar (new wave), Down the Hatch (pop), G Bar (old skool hip hop and rap), East Village Lounge (Depeche Mode/Smiths nite), The Mark Bar (classic rock/pop/world/new wave/punk/soul), Moomia Lounge (new wave), Club Midway (all genres of music, including a night with Martin Moscrop of A Certain Ratio), Sound Fix (with Martin Moscrop), Fontanas (Joy Division night), Lit (darkwave), Shadowlands (goth/pagan party), Otto's Shrunken Head (ska/rock/new wave/punk, etc.), and in March of 2008, a gig at South Night Club ("Another Planet") with Dave Haslam in Manchester, UK (post-punk & Mcr), a Smiths/Morrissey night at Rehab with the Sons and Heirs, Rififi in April, 2008, an anti-war art gallery opening in July 2008, the Fab! Festival E. 4th Street block party in September 2008, Halloween at Rubulad, monthly all-Depeche Mode parties with the New York Depeche Mode Fan Club that are still going on at Element, Le Royale (post punk with 66Sick), and various NYC loft parties. I had a guest hour on XM Radio nationwide specializing in obscure new wave that was heard on "Surface Noise" - (Fred, Ch. 44). In 2006 and 2007 I had a two-hour weekly internet radio program where I specialized in obscure post-punk, punk and new wave on Altrokradio.com. I currently have a new wave/postpunk show every Wednesday at X Wave radio online (www.xwaveradio.com) - where you can also download the podcasts. For updates on where my gigs are, check my blog and calendar of events right here on this page. To see flyers of a few previous events (not all), click on my "pics" under "DJ Shred Events 2005-2008." Thanks, DJ Shred />

Who I'd like to meet:

I DON'T like: Metal. I DON'T like singer-songwriter/acousticy stuff (very few exceptions!!!) I don't like emo or rock indie crap. Take a look at my profile and get a clue! *********************************************** Experimental/new wave/synth/analog synth/avant garde bands and post-punk bands, please send me your music, I'd like to hear it. For every friend request I get, I listen to EVERY band's songs. I am always looking for new music to add to my collection to play out and to play on my radio show. ***********************************************
