With the release of Silje’s latest album ”Darkness Out Of Blue” (2007) Silje’s dream of working with the renowned arranger Vince Mendoza, (Elvis Costello, Joni Mitchell, Herbie Hancock) came true. Mendoza contributed with arrangements to the songs “Paperboats” & “Let Me Be Troubled” with his beautiful sound and touch. This opened doors for a new and more compromising musical co-work.
In 2009, Silje will release a new album recorded with her band and the highly respected The Metropol Orchestra from Holland, – conducted and arranged by Vince Mendoza.
Silje Nergaard has been a songwriter all her life. At age 16 she entered the stage, joining a jam session at Norway’s Molde Internasjonal Jazz Festival, with a band comprising of ex-Jaco Pastorious musicians. National Jazz journalists applauded the talented artist. Ever since that day, Silje has developed as a composer and become very popular due to her unique voice and talent for songwriting.
The albums “Port of Call” and the following albums, “At First Light”, and “Nightwatch” all have proved a resounding sales success. With “Nightwatch” she made history, since no other Jazz artist has twice shot straight into the Norwegian sales charts as No. 1 within the first week of release. In 2004 she was rewarded the Norwegian music award: Musician of the Year.
Over the last years she has received increasing attention from abroad, as well as rapturous critics. Silje has worked with artists such as AL JARREAU, PAT METHENY & TOOTS THIELEMANNS to mention a few. Playing for her audience is important to Silje and the last years, she has been touring Europe and the Far East with her great band. With the release of the new album in 2009 – Silje will once again embrace audience around the world with her music.

You have surely heard about the tragic death of a brave young woman who was murdered in Iran just for peacefully protesting with her father on the streets of Teheran.
Thanks so much for the Add–and your friendship. We enjoyed your music very much. Thanks for sharing it with all of us. It's a pleasure having you among our friends!
We've just added two new blogs about Umano, plus four more new compositions, making ten on our space. We hope you and your friends visit us and enjoy our music, too.
We wake up every morning and play the music of the new MySpace friends who have arrived at our site during the night. It occurred to us that these friends (you are among them) are almost universally positive, whether they be novices or legends, and without regard to their station in life or the country they occupy.
Although it's not an original thought, it also occurred to us that we couldn’t hold a verbal conversation with most of these friends, but we have bridged that gap by expressing our art honestly with each other.
We all have been filling the world with our music and art, in the hope that our messages of love and human understanding will have an impact on the world at large.
What a gift and what an opportunity we have received from this technology!
Hopefully this widget works better that the last one I posted with

Hi Silje, see you soon at the Rheingau Festival. I have just finished a new song and the intro sounds as if you were playing the kantele. Listen here if you like. All the best and I look forward to listen to you wonderful music. Ciao Roland
