Pop shuvit is back and this time Malaysia’s most hardworking
Hip Hop Rock band has brought along Dandee from Hip Hop
stalwarts SILK Sounds from Thailand along for the ride. The
band’s new single Journey features Dandee and is currently
storming the charts in Malaysia at 1 on the Malaysian
English Top Ten and landed the boys their 9th
1 single. Taken from the upcoming Hip Hop collaboration
album aptly titled “FREAKSHOW VOL I: TALES OF THE
TRAVELLING TUNES”, the video for “Freakshow” is a
surreal joyride through a freakish, imaginary Bangkok
underground, will be aired very soon on all the major Asian
music video channels: MTV Asia, MTV Thailand, Hitz.tv
Malaysia, Channel V Asia and Thailand.

Silksounds, one of Thailand’s fastest rising hip hop bands, has been rocking SE Asia since 2004. The prolific team, comprised of Highlife (producer/songwriter), Dandee (MC/writer) and Ono (DJ), is proudly “made in Germany”. In three years of existence, Silksounds has not only released two full-length studio albums, but has also contributed their production skills and lyrical talents to some of Thailand’s hottest hip hop and pop acts.
Silksounds first tore through the SE Asian scene as the staple opening act for Thaitanium, Thailand’s undisputed premiere hip hop collective. They immediately kicked their game up and played in all of Thailand’s most significant music arenas. Silksounds has been seen and heard at Thailand’s largest music festivals, the FAT Festival, the MTV hip hop connection, the Heineken Charity Event, MTV’s Sprite Street Festival, and even took home the crown at the “Denon Sound Clash 2005”. They have shared the stage with major global artists such as DJ Cash Money, DJ D-Stylez of the Invisibl Skratch Piklz, and DJ Total Eclipse from The X-Ecutioners. It doesn’t stop there though. Silksounds demands not only to be heard, but seen as well. They are featured on the Thaitanium produced hip hop documentary, SPIT DVD Volumes I and II, a Maxim photo shoot with the Deck Divas, and a SONY Walkman commercial showing all over SE Asia.
These self-made artists honed their skills individually before coming together to release their first big production, “Fresh to Death” (2005). Since then, they have finished a double album in collaboration with elite hip hop crews reppin’ Bangkok, Tokyo, and New York City (Thaitanium, Teri the Aki of Osaka’s 420 Family, and others). On their second-home turf of Thailand, they have already conquered and collaborated with note-worthy Thai pop and hip hop artists, such as Jennifer Kim, Thaitanium, Rastafari, Du Jada, Pinky, J Jetarin and Ford.
Flash to the present. Silksounds wastes no time, already opening 2007 with a new album release, “Diamond in the Dirt”. The first single, “Win or Lose”, is a testament to Dandee’s hypnotic lyrical style, Highlife’s matchless production skills, and Ford’s buttery smooth voice. This profound song is only a taste of the variety and span of music on the album.
These guys never slow down, as they have exhibited since their inception in 2004. When they’re not hustlin’ at local Bangkok clubs, they are hard at work in the studio producing and song writing. Since hip hop goes hand in hand with apparel, Silksounds also reps on the streets with their apparel line, S.I.L.K. (Some Is Living Korrupt). Going beyond, these guys don’t settle for just the performing end of the craft. S.I.L.K. Entertainment is in the process of being created to take total control of creative content as well as marketing for the team. One sure thing with Silksounds is, there is no stopping this trio, whether it be in Thailand or across the globe. Silksounds is taking over and they are taking over fast.
