Sweet, thanks dude. I'll let you know as soon as I get a final set list figured out. Probs at least a half hour set though. will no for sure when i get a final band count :) see ya then!
taiwan was amazing...though i feel like i've already told you about it. its understandable though, music can keep a guy pretty busy in life. i just got back from a week of camping in like the middle of washington in a town thats called the middle of nowhere! haha it was seriously far from civilization and with no cell service. but it was really nice to get away from technology for a while :] im definitely looking forward to the 'band' side of you, ian! -monica-
Also, as far as other bands playing I'm trying to get ahold of John van Deusen (of the Lonely Forrest) and/or the whole band, Patient Patient, Corbin Watkins, the Mission Orange etc....
Hey Ian, thanks for getting back to me! As for who's playing, so far it's a few Lopez Bands (Temporary Moorage, Tiempo de Lopez, Bullfrogs) and a Mount Vernon dance band that just started up, called Voyage (they're on myspace, you should take a listen!) The show is going to be at the community center, if you don't want to bring a car over, I or someone else can pick you up, all you'll need is a guitar, we'll have mics and amps etc....
You're welcome to camp in the field by my boyfriends house (thats where the guys from Voyage are staying) unless that''s too random for you :) Since it's doubtful we'll get camping from the Islander since not very many off-island bands can make it....The show starts at 7pm, but we would like everyone there no later than 6 so I'm not stressing out...
The only change in the show is the money is just going towards saving the middle school sports program since they rearranged the music department so that they have enough funding.
Thanks again, you can email me at SLIK.benefit@gmail.com if you want, it might be easier.
aw man i cant believe i DID miss your show in burlington!!! :( this fact makes me sad! please tell me you're planning another something sometime soon!!!
Hey Ian, I'm from Lopez and I (along with a few others) am putting on a benefit show for the school (MS/HS), it'll be on August 7 at the Community Center, and I was wondering if you were interested in playing? It wouldn't be a paid show since all the money is going to the school in order to prevent the cutting of the middle school sports program and the music program. Let me know if you're interested. There's a good chance we can get free camping sites for bands playing the show so you wouldnt have to worry about catching a ferry that night. :) THANKS
ian!! just writing in taiwan!! took all day to get here! we had a lay-over in japan, where we took showers in the airport! way exciting!! im wiped out but just wanted to let you know i survived the flight!! xxx
That's awesome! I can only play the piano. I used to play the saxophone, but I didn't like my teacher. Learning guitar would be pretty cool :) Which instruments do you play?
So I take it you're from Washington? It'd be cool to see a show, but I'm from Lodi, CA. It's about 40 minutes to an hour south of Sacramento. It's kinda far away from Washington!
Hmm...music's awesome, and I dance. I'm involved in student government. I'm 17, so I'm gonna be a senior next year. Are you going to school or are you taking time off to focus on music?
