This time last year - the finale to our very first Birthday party, we know how to have fun! Starring Lucille Burn, Cat Aclysmic, Daiquiri Dusk, Miss Dolly Tartan, Vendetta Vain & The Not So Famous Ben!
The first in a series of Dr Sketchy Shorts featuring the sensational Molly Crabapple and her crew. Long live Sketchy!
Dr Sketchy's is the little New York event that became a movement.
Founded in 2005 by artist Molly Crabapple, Dr. Sketchy's asked a simple question; why can't life-drawing classes be sexy?
Instead of static models being drawn by artists sitting in silence in a cold art class, Dr Sketchy is what happens when Cabaret meets Art School. Models are burlesque stars, contortionists, fire-jugglers, tattooed beefcakes and sideshow freaks. Short poses are accompanied by live music interspersed with performances from the talented models themselves. A charming host awards prizes and encourages the audience to make art and mischief in equal measure while cocktails are served from the bar.
With events in over 35 cities across the globe, from New York to Melbourne, Paris to Tokyo, Dr Sketchy is arguably the biggest burlesque franchise in the world. In 2006 Phyllis Martin, cabaret producer and Edinburgh Fringe addict, founded Dr Sketchy Scotland. It's been a tremendous success, and 2007 sees Dr Sketchy Scotland bringing a bevvy of burlesque beauties to The Arches in Glasgow.
Lead by local theatre company Rhymes with Purple Productions - a company directed by performers with a background in cabaret and burlesque - Dr Sketchy Glasgow will bring glamour, entertainment and art to one of Scotland’s best and most cutting edge multi-purpose arts venues and will repeat monthly from then on.
To keep things fresh and fun, each Dr Sketchy Glasgow will have a different theme, prizes for best artwork and special appearances from some of the UK’s best burlesque and cabaret performers.
Look out your pencil case and six-inch heels it’s time to get sketchy in Glasgow.

im thinking about writing our story with magenta ink on the perfect canvas of your body, or maybe i will paint your portrait as a landscape to make visible the point where your earth meets the firmament in which the angels dwell. your sun and moon share the midnight sky and painlessly penetrate this mortal body of mine. and i will guide my little boat home through the stormy currents beneath your breast bone to find refuge within the arc of your arm and notice how the snow dusted undulations of the land on your horizon are left with the imprints of my exploring hands.
