Sleeper Agent! is a band from the Washington DC area that took its name from the 1962 film ‘Manchurian Candidate’. Vocalist John Stabb has been in several bands over the years, but most know him from the time he served fronting the heavily influential 80s punk band Government Issue. Guitarist Derrick Baranowsky made a name for himself while touring with various DC bands and is known for his energy, sound, and writing style. Bassist Sean Koepenick’s style is a unique blend of melody, attack, and early 80s British wave. He is also a writer for Razorcake which is a zine supporting independent and underground punk music. Drummer Jonathan Roth (no relation to David Lee Roth) has played countless shows over the past 12 years touring with various bands, including Speedwell and Meredith Bragg and the Terminals.
Disinterest in popular culture and frustration with an industry that doesn’t care about music fuels Sleeper Agent’s deep DIY ethic. They exist for the sheer fun and enjoyment of creating, recording, and playing music together.
