Music is the language through which one soul is able to communicate with another. Specific frequencies of vibration summon forth thoughts and feelings that can in turn only be described by the very cloth from which they were cut. In this time of such quick change and such immense power it is our ability to communicate and that alone that will make it possible to preserve the wonderful world we have each helped to create, and each call home. This third dimension of communication holds immense potential energy; as do each and every one of US. SLEEPING GIANT is not so much the name of a band as it is a descriptor for the MASSIVE POTENTIAL POWER that exists within the fabric of the general populous. The ability we have as individuals to make our many hands work as one swift arm to achieve the greatest of works… and to avoid the greatest of tragedies. The slogan “ Songs for the latest revolution” symbolizes an understanding of our roles in the perpetual theme of conflict bringing about change; the illogical repetition of bad decisions and lack of foresight even though we’ve known better for hundreds of years… Ignorance is only bliss for a short time… until the pressure inevitably builds too great.
SLEEPING GIANT is a vessel for mass communication; combining intelligent, pertinent, coherent lyrics with a musical honesty that no soul can deny. Sleeping Giant has been working hard day and night since their first show in 2004 to spread their message to every ear willing to listen, and every soul who still has a vested interest in the well being of their brothers and sisters on this earth. Combining influences from folk, rock, rap, reggae, rhythm and blues, punk, and classical, into one all original cohesive animal that is unique unto itself and covers many genres some not even yet conceived. SLEEPING GIANT has been filling rooms consistently since their very first show; due greatly to their serious commitment to actively working to hit the street and actually realize their goal. An SG show is not simply a concert but a social celebration of like minded souls motivated by good intention getting together to celebrate the joy of each others existence. The theory behind the project is manifested through the immense growth of the SG following in the few short years the group has been in existence. A great momentum has been collected. Soon we rise.

I cannot WAIT for the day-long AAAlliance Party on May 17th. Everyone who reads this should come to Jamestown and GET DOWN at our free daytime show in the park with food, good local beer, and tons of local artists. When the park closes we'll walk about 4 blocks to Carol's Silver Dollar and keep the party rockin' 'til the broad daylight G-E-T L-I-V-E alright.
(or 'til 2am, actually) $4 cover for the show at Carols' The Secret Stash will be opening for the Mighty S.G..
I saw Giant Panda this past weekend in San Diego right around the corner from my house. Missing the old days when Jake, Steve-o, Jodie , Lori, Megan and I met up and saw them jam in the alley between Java Joe's and the parking garage! Miss you guys!
