The promise of this band was noticed when they won Best Newcomers Award in 2001 with their debut CD “The Flying Pig”. This set the wheel in motion and extensive European tours that left audiences rattled and mesmerised by the high powered deliverance and lively performance of this young band’s innovative music. Their second CD Harmonic Motion in 2003 was a great success reaffirming Slide's pole possition in the traditional genre. Slide were holders of the Music Networks Young Music Wide Award 2004 to 2007. The third release "Overneath" was met with critical acclaim. Slide are busy touring the US and Europe and are working on their 4th CD release.

Poem 162 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse (please see my blog): TEES TO TYNE: FIRST IMPRESSIONS - SUMMER 2001
Where traditions are not so rare; Sea, country and works scent the air; A multitude of monuments, Planted tubs and patterned pavements.
The longish pedestrian malls; The remnants of defensive walls; Historic buildings are a gauge Of the respect for heritage.
Wheat, rape and pines in the fields; Estuaries guarded by shields; Long sandy beaches and wide scenes; Romantic-ruin go-betweens.
Rivers in parts licked by trees, Or fringed by boat clubs, wharfs, gantries, And crossed by practical delights - Varied spans, forming pleasing sights.
Fine churches headed at Durham; Football kits ad infinitum; Kept castles - one for study; Masonry behind masonry.
And, with moulding-works out that way, It’s somewhere for a longer stay..?
I was surfing your website recently and found out about the BEO-LIVE CD and bought it straight away. I saw you perform out here in California a year ago and I knew what to expect. I surely made a good choice to buy it. BEO is really great! It arrived from Dublin very quickly. The instrumentals are top notch, and I'll always remember how the fiddle is played by Daire Bracken! I was happy that you included "See Thru Blue" with Dave Curley singing leads with that distinctive voice - I remember being blown away by "See Thru Blue" in Sebastopol. I like "Follow On" too. It sounds like you had a great audience too during the recording. Keep up the great work! I'm a definite fan.
Lads, Thanks for accepting our request as a friend. Great music. Long may your music conrtinue. Still a great session in the Poitin on a Wednesday.Thanks. Liam Snr.
Great stuff at Milwaukee Irish Fest this weekend! I saw your Friday & Saturday night shows. Fantastic flute playing and crazy fiddle playing--I love it! Thanks for coming to the festival. Now you need some tour dates in Florida so I can see you guys on my home turf :-)
If you have a band and would like to work in western central Massachusetts, I may be able to help book you. I started NC Booking back in '89 when I was booking a few bands from Scotland and Ireland. Now, 20 years later, I'm still booking great roots music acts. To find out more, visit http://northamptoncommunity.ning.com where you can REGISTER. Thanks!

Poem 2 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse (please see my blog): WALKABOUT WITH MY PEN
Once drove an old sedan, up north, From a place in Sydney to Cairns; Then to Kuranda I went forth, By train, to look without set plans.
I browsed through the trendy market, With fresh fruits of tropical kind; Walked to the creek through lush thicket - Nature’s hand giving peace of mind.
I dined in a scenic cafe; Then, outside, as I wrote for yen, Some passing Kooris called-out: “Hey, You go walkabout with your pen.”
Request or question, I don’t know - Assured voices, elderly men. That’s now several years ago, And I’ve seen the world - with my pen.
