The ancient and noble tradition of music-reviewing is constantly under attack from many quarters. Thanks to the Internet and its burgeoning legion of fans and admirers, it is a sad fact that by 2020 everyone WILL in fact be a reviewer and thus the paid critics will be seen as "nothing special", "disappointing" and "a pale imitation of their former glory".
We decided to find out what COLIN ROBERTS, Editor of DrownedinSound.com had to say about the sentiments expressed in the song featured above.
"You're right...", he confessed "We [reviewers] don't serve any purpose at all. I don't even know why I do what I do. I mean, just think, when I'm playlisting another DiS Radio in the genuine hope that someone, somewhere will hear something and fall in love, I could be at home watching TV instead. Or when I'm writing a review of something I'm so excited about I can barely concentrate on the page from thinking how people are going to react when they hear it, I should just be down the pub or starting fights or selling smack to 15-year-olds. It's so easy to pick on music journalists, critics, hacks, whatever."
So there you have it - a man truly dedicated to his cause. A man deeply moved by the harsh passion of the featured anthem.
Despite his apparent dismay, Colin was quick to add, "I did quite enjoy the song, it has to be said."
