2007 and 2008 were remarkable years for the four-piece instrumental electronica group known as Somasphere. Formed in late 2006, the band quickly became known in Lincoln, Omaha, and surrounding areas for energetic live shows that combine the dance floor sensibilities of DJ culture with the performance capabilities of rock music. Their unique approach led to larger venues and more exciting performances alongside some of the most innovative electronic acts in the country, including Pnuma Trio, Bassnectar, EOTO, DJ Logic, J. Wail, MO2, Flobots, BLVD, Pretty Lights, Rena Jones, and Lotus. Somasphere received an invitation to play the 2008 Wakarusa Music Festival in Lawrence, KS, and performed at Omaha's Sokol Underground following Sound Tribe Sector 9. Always creating and inspiring, the group coordinated unprecedented large scale musical events in the local music scene. In September 2008, the band planned and performed in the second annual NEXUS Electronic Music and Arts Festival in Lincoln's Haymarket district. This celebration of culture energized and exposed local music, art, and vending, and raised money for Nebraskans For Peace and KZUM 89.3 FM, Nebraska's only community radio station. After the success of NEXUS, Somasphere released their self-produced debut EP 'More Shapes'. The band plans to release a new full-length album in 2009. Watch for upcoming tour dates and events at venues across the country!
