‘Alpha Centauri’: /’ælf-- sen’tÞ:rai/ The brightest star in the constellation Centaurus and the third brightest star visible from within the Earth’s atmosphere and is orbited every 80-years by the binary sun ‘Proxima Centauri’ the nearest star to the Sun, 4.2 light years away.
300 metres off the coast from where SOAC practice & record is a sunken American Warship from WWII. 1,400 tons of TNT remain on the wreck. Rumours circulate suggesting there could be a devastating explosion.
'Sons of Alpha Centauri' are a Swale based progressive rock band. The project is self-reinforced and sustained working in liaison with freelance artists to contribute ideas, projections and theories. Each separate release combines visual, audio and sensory projections.
The project initiated in mid-2001 experimenting with riff-rock compositions and classic rock techniques. Instrumental from onset the project expanded into a multi-layered instrumental group of musicians in early 2004 as the band continued to compose tracks the integer of which responds to written chronological order.
The debut album consisting of 12 movements from the first chapter was released in November 2007 mastered by James Plotkin.
Since 2005 cross-referenced audio experiments working with: Hrsta (II) & Set Fire to Flames (III) have incorporated the creative rendering of ambient soundscapes. The P.E.A.R.L projects have developed new textures, tape manipulations & analogue soundscapes....
