Sorry, Ghettoblaster is a monthly club night in Warsaw, the capital city of Poland. It was created by the DJ duo of Sekta and Kosakot in 2006. The thing started as an underground party for friends and those who shared the love for ecletic dance music; two years later it became the biggest club night in the city. Every month it draws a huge crowd and it's not unusual to see people waiting in long lines to get in. The event is also receiving more and more attention on the international scene, which has already resulted in sponsorship by the legendary streetwear brand Mishka NYC and Reebok. Sorry, Ghettoblaster celebrated it's second birthday in June, and, to date, has presented artists such as Jokers of The Scene (Fool's Gold), Shadow Dancer (Boys Noize Recs.), David E. Sugar (Kitsune), The Bloody Beetroots (Dim Mak), Fluokids, Zombie Disco Squad (Dirty Bird / Made To Play), Bobmo (Institubes), Don Rimini (Mental Groove), Boy 8-Bit (Mad Decent), Nick Catchdubs (Fool's Gold), Star Eyes (Trouble & Bass), Kazey (Dress2Sweat), Discobelle DJs, Surfing Leons (Forma.T), Tvyks (Plastique).
Sekta
Music producer, dj, graphic designer, illustrator. Coming from a multi-generational musicians family Sekta attended music school, played violin and sang in a choir. When he was 15, he became invloved in the rising polish hip-hop scene and started to dj and produce his own music. Echoes of this period can still be heard in his tracks and live sets. A couple of years later, his early dance productions caught the attention of people such as Don Rimini, DJ Touche (from the Black Ghosts) and Boy-8bit (for whom he recorded a remix of "Auto Riot" track which quickly became an unofficial anthem of the Sorry, Ghettoblaster night). Apart from the artists featured on Sorry, Ghettoblaster, Sekta shared the stage with: Maurice Fulton, De La Soul, Kap10Kurt, Sick Girls, Beat Junkies and played in clubs such as Old Blue Last (Vice Mag pub, London) My Bitch Club (Vienna), Stealh (Nottingham), Roxy Club (Prague).
Kosakot
Journalist, dj, vinyl collector and beginner producer. Kosakot got into electronic music at the age of 16, which led to heavy clubbing and record collecting, then music journalism and deejaying. A while back, he was the youngest magazine editor in Poland; nowadays he's editing the music cloumn in Poland's biggest cultural infromant (,,Aktivist"), but also writes about music, food and cars for various magazines. In his dj's sets, Kosakot tries to connect all types of music that he loves, not really caring about genres; for him is not only about playing loud, but also about storytelling. He thinks that it's okay to idolize Larry Levan, but it's also okay to like A-Trak at the same time. Beside playing music in the clubs, he has worked for fashion shows with the best polish designers (Dawid Wolinski, Vasina, Pycior...) and international brands such as Commes Des Garcons or Nike. Apart from the artists featured on Sorry, Ghettoblaster, Kosakot shared the stage with: Hercules & Love Affair (DFA), A Guy Called Gerald (808 State), David Mancuso (The Loft), The Glimmers, Maurice Fulton (DFA), Joel Martin (Quiet Village), Tim Sweeney (DFA / Beats in Space), Greg Wilson (Hacienda), Cosmo (The Loft), Daniel Wang, Marflow / Diskokaine, Terry Poison, Looose Cannons, Daniel Haaksman (Man Recordings), Krazy Baldhead (Ed Banger), Dj Spacid (Radius Records).
HARCE NA BARCE VOL.2: Hungry Hungry Models ft.
W tę sobotę gościnnie pomoże nam najwyższy didżej Warszawy (?), I Say Mikey!
