MAKING ALBUM NO. 2:
Influences
Angry women and fire-and-brimstone men. The messy parts of relationships. The shades that grey can take. Broken voices, fragile bodies. Theatre. Flashing glints of colour in the corner of your eye. The unexpected heart swell. Deafening rages. Love. Then there are the artists: PJ Harvey, Fiona Apple, Peter Carey, Nick Cave, Rufus Wainwright, Bic Runga, Alvar Aalto, Ute Lemper, Tom Waits, Carson McCullers, Cy Twombly, Lyle Lovett (seriously), Cat Power and so on and so on and so on...
"Her songs are dark and feisty, almost brutal at times, then again gentle and fragile. Frankie’s songwriting covers a large spectrum and an incredibly versatile voice precisely portrays all that rage, suffering and love. **** (4 stars)” Rolling Stone, Germany (translation)
“Kat Frankie’s songs are beautifully crafted with poetic lyrics and her vocal range is extraordinary." The Age
"Pocketknife is a rich, often quite perfect body of work. This woman has talent: she can pant and purr with the best of them, effect a PJ Harvey-ish snarl, turn out clever pop like Aimee Mann (The Tops) and coo prettily like Bic Runga.” The Australian
"Kat Frankie sucked me kicking and screaming into a vortex of deep emotion.” Brag
"Passionate yet dark, fragile yet brutal, beautiful yet intimidating." Time Out Magazine
Kat Frankie spent her youth in the sunburnt suburbs of Sydney, scribing countless songs in her parents’ sweltering attic. She moved to Berlin in December 2004, where she is known for her passionate, dynamic and riveting live shows. For her upcoming October German tour, Kat will bring her band on the road for the very first time, intertwining powerful musical arrangements with her incredible voice; reaching from tender, sparse melancholy to dramatic, soaring aggression.
Kat's debut album, “Pocketknife” was released in Australia in September 2007, and in Germany January 2008, and has been highly praised in both countries. Kat has also released an EP titled “outside.now.” and appears on several independent compilations from Australia and Germany.
Kat also features in BerlinSong, a music documentary made by Uli Schueppel about songwriters in Berlin. The film was selected to premiere at the 2007 Berlinale Film Festival and was released in Germany September 2008. For screening information please go to berlinsong.com ....................
Next shows: 12.09.2009 Berlin Jugendclub U5 e.V. 19.09.2009 Berlin Spreehöfe - Spreelacart (Schöneweide) Sprock Contest for Rosenrock Festival in Weiße Rose Berlin

Euer Linientreu Team (Frau Seide, Sascha, Anastasia, Andrea)
