"First up Spodni Pradlo, a Bradford-based octet who've been causing quite a stir in these parts of late and certainly get The Cockpit's already burgeoning crowd warmed up on this chilly afternoon. Their sound, Gorky's Zygotic Mynci harmonising with Panda Bear(s), is buoyed by endearing boy-girl harmonies and the use of a mercifully un-Zutons-esque woodwind section. Ones to watch, for sure." Drowned In Sound
"Gypsy art dance youngsters who sound like Beirut remixing Mr Scruff, such beauty is yet to be matched we assure you." http://www.whisperinandhollerin.com
"Putting them somewhere between Los Campesinos! Beirut and Lemon Jelly would not be an unfair assessment. Largely twee, sometimes out of tune but always hitting you with a pop nugget." http://alittleelectricity.blogspot.com/

THE END. WE ARE ENDING. THIS IS OUR LAST GIG. 17/09/09 - 1in12 CLUB BRADFORD.
Yes indeed.
It is with salty tears billowing down my face that I am forced to announce the imminent departure of one, Spodni Pradlo, into the realms of eternity.
It has been a bloody great couple of years, but, like Icarus, we have flown too near to the sun in our rapid ascent to glory. (alright, maybe the sun is a bit much… a nice eco-friendly light on the second floor of a fairly tall building? I mean fuck, we played with Wild Beasts, pretty much the best band in the world right now, FOUR TIMES)
But hush child, curb those wails, Spodni may end but varying careers in Anthropology, Zoology, History, Graphic Design, Beard Growing, Vegan Cookery and generally being amazing will prosper.
From ends come beginnings, so watch with joy as this night moves from pitiful misery into joyous music, then onwards into seven glorious futures.
Seriously though, you’ve been the best crowd imaginable.
Bradford gigs are always amazing, 1in12 especially.
We’d love to see you all.
Thanks, honestly,
Love.

We are 7/8 friends from Bradford who like-
Dancing, four part harmonies, a bit of escape, Balkan scales and afro-beats.
We tend to have a lot of fun playing live.
We will probably play in your front room if you ask us nicely.
We’re all avid tea drinkers.
We have within our ranks-
two sixth form students, a vegan chef, a regular chef, two Bradford City fans, two Leeds United fans, an ex-postman with a formidable beard, a lorry driving smooth talker, an awesome photographer, a budding zoologist, several hip-hop heads, a few hardcore jazz-fans, a loved-up couple, three people who shared baths as toddlers, four others who have played music together for oooh… about 6 years… I could go on.
We’ve shared stages with –
Lightspeed Champion, Yeasayer, Make Model, Ida Maria, Cadence Weapon, Duels, Slow Club, Semifinalists, Wild Beasts, The Sugars, Blue roses, naked dancing hippies, huge grotesque paintings of mythical creatures, anarchist flags, Patrick Dowson and many other wonderful things.
Our name is an intriguing anagram of a piece of difficult astrology terminology.

Leeds two piece The Old Romantic Killer Band are a ferocious act who are equal parts Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, Son House and Ryan Adams, with a mutual love of punk, blues, country and aggressive live shows.
"Resurrected from the charred ashes of everything that was great about music in the past 30 years: the energy of DC hardcore bands, the meanness of rockabilly, the sheer coolness of Nick Cave, the power chords of the Ramones and the hair of a thousand eagles? This load ass two piece will quite literally blow your tiny minds." - In the City 2007
"Undoubtedly one of the most talented bands in Leeds" - No Title magazine
Support comes from Bradford's own Oxtobys Rocker's and Ti Amo. There'll also be the usual alt/indie/electro djs after the bands.
Anything from Bradford is good for me. I used to work for Bradford City Transport, many years ago...
Thanks for the add.
Drop in on the Big Block 454 page sometime - you may find it strangely stimulating. For all fans of English whimsy / Canterbury / Krautrock and The Fall arguing with the Velvet Underground in a deserted fairground.
Look out for our latest album “Bratislava”… We guarantee that you will hear no other album containing references to Alan Turing, Leviathan, cotton mills, canoes, melamine and badgers. We assure you that you will hear instruments you have never heard before. We’re damn well certain you’ll go away whistling, like a punctured lung.
