Hello Boys and Girls, sit down while I tell you all about Steve Caraway. After witnessing a cataclysmic musical event as a child he decided that the artistic path (painting) that he..d chosen just didn..t have the promise of screaming girls that music might have, so he cajoled his parents into getting him a cheap guitar. Years later, after somewhat learning to play said guitar Steve formed various aggregations of misspent youths and dubious musical expertise until one day he found himself employed in a GOOD band, and in Baltimore, no less...go figure. Hanging out with Ravyns and Face Dancers and others of ill repute he burned many bridges until he departed B-Mo for Boston, chasing dreams and girls, and well, more girls, until he found himself in Night After Night a REALLY good band who signed with Barry Goudreau of Boston and Bob Buziak of L.A. manage, they did, and N.A.N. recorded a batch of tunes for MCA Records. After deciding N.A.N. wasn..t right for MCA Barry and Bob managed on until Bob was offered the presidency of RCA...are you following this? Bob took the job and N.A.N. split. To be continued...Continuing on Steve formed a new band with former Bleeding Hearts(Lynn, Ma.) John "Jazz" Abbott, "Big" Dan McCauley, and Mark"No Quotes" Naimo. Said Hearts decided on combining forces that they were actually, in fact, big trouble, and thusly the band was named Big Trouble. B.T. wrote and performed their brand of punkish, Stonesish, Replacementish and many other ishes, rock n.. roll for almost ten years opening for many and finally closing for themselves in the late 90..s. Sadly both Dan and Mark passed shortly after the band called it quits and both Jazz and Steve semi-retired, devasted from the loss. No joke. Steve played sporadically with various cover bands until 1999 when, while working for floating Casinos he started writing again. Marriage, children and a stint as Entertainment Director for a Casino Cruise line followed until the backlog of material begged to finally be recorded and released. Thus in the summer of 2006 armed with 6 and 12-string guitars, 4 and 8-string basses, keyboards, and drummer extraordinaire, Jay Dellisola, Steve entered Rockpile Recording in Rockport, MA. Now a year later Hurricane Season, the album, has been completed with the help of Engineer/Producer Greg Dann, keyboard player Bill D..Eon, guitarists Gary Backstrom, Mike "Mr. Bogus" McMahon, Curt Florczak, pedal steeler Bob New, Grammy Nominee Mark Earley on saxophone, and on vocals John "Jazz" Abbott. Please watch for what the future brings. To be continued...
Almost Tomorrow is the third full length collaboration album from Section 27 Netlabel founders Tam Ferrans and Andrew Paterson, under their Nonima & theAudiologist guise. This time around the sound is more melodic, and has a definite feeling of a complete and more mature sound than heard on the previous LP's "Dystopian Battle Hymns" and "Ceremony After Amputation". If you are familiar with their individual projects you may even be in for a slight surprise, as the tracks are not as beat driven like before, but are more atmospheric and sound, well... "bigger". In its 75 minutes, Almost Tomorrow takes you on a trip from the digital rain-soaked cavernous scraping in "Thoughtograph", the ethereal beat jittering of "The Colour of Rain", intercepted transmissions from unknown places in "Com-Intercept", "Ganzfeld"s huge yet strangely insect-like beats until everything you knew comes crashing around you in "Almost Tomorrow". Burning pianos, glitched out soundscapes and intricately programmed beatplay, this may well be their best work to date. Consider it the soundtrack to a rainy overcast day, but with just that glimmer of sunshine peeking from the clouds. "Almost Tomorrow" wears its heart on its sleeve.
