Straphangers was established in 2001. Having worked on several projects together, Joey and Mike, who go back since childhood, decided to do their own thing. Difficulties in finding a drummer initiated Mike, originally a vocalist, to take up the drums, while Joey's chemically unbalanced ass ripped on guitar. Muppett joined the lineup a couple years later. Having an extensive background working with bands of many different genres, he swings the big dick on the bass. Joey and Mike met Emily at a Stiff Little Fingers/Dropkick Murphy's show. She was tearing shit up in the pit with ferocious energy. Though she is the sweetest person you could ever meet, on stage, in the pit, or on the rugby field, she always fucks shit up.
Over the years we have gotten very tight. And even though we have lost a founding member of the band in Joey, Straphangers still continue to deliver brutal music and a ferocious stage presence. Danny has permanently joined the band after playing with us as a second guitarist, and he is leading the way with his sick and precise guitar riffs. He has quickly filled the role of lead guitar, adding a classic hardcore/metal sound. He comes from a long history of other bands, and has played out in the alternative and punk scenes since his teen years. Anthony tore it up behind the kit with an always assaulting beat, but has had to move on for personal reasons. Mike has returned to Straphangers after a brief period with a new found determination. Everyone's experience with hardcore punk has allowed us to carry on the Straphangers sound and build on what has already been established.
Brutal sincerity is our bond and Old School Punk and Hardcore is our common link. Come to a Straphangers show and have a couple of drinks with us. You won't be disappointed.
