"R&B and soul-inspired hits that'll make you wanna shimmy on the dance floor, run in place, and scream!" [San Francisco Bay Guardian]
"This five-piece Oakland band plays vintage R&B with a pinch of fiery punk that is sure to set everyone's feet ablaze, swinging and swaggering." [San Francisco Chronicle]
"The thing everyone said about the Struts was true, "You gotta hear this girl sing." I got chills hearing her while I was still walking in. She just tears a song up with her gritty snarling rock and soul styled wails, all the while seeming very nonchalant about it, like this is just what happens when she opens her mouth." [San Francisco Bay Times]
"The hottest, grittiest, rockinest Rhythm and Blues band on the planet" [Liz]
"The Struts are a five-piece, female fronted, full-throttle rhythm and blues outfit from Oakland, CA. They've got a high energy live show, a dedicated Bay Area fan base and an exciting "Rhythm-N-Grit" sound. Simply put... It's fast. It's loud. And when singer, Farrah Ancell, steps up to the microphone — when you hear her deliver that first note with all the grit and growl of a young Etta James — you'll know something serious is about to go down. It's punk rock in the juke joint and it swings like a mother."
The Struts have a brand new record! After being sold out of our first
release for over a year, we're pleased to announce we have a new
10-track album entitled Boy Can't Dance! It features our best recordings
to date, including Hey Baby, Go Go Power, Boy Can't Dance, and Have
Love, Will Travel, as well as some of our favorite wayback machine hits,
including I Can't Stop It and Hands Off.
Right now, it's only available as part of a super-rare first pressing of
100 HAND-NUMBERED copies. We sold quite a few during our last show with
the Phenomenauts, but there are still some left. So if you're
interested, just send us a message and we'll let you know how to order
one. Or just come out for our next show and get one in person!
