SUBSOIL remains the undisputed champion of Live-Band Hip-Hop. - The Emcees are two local legends in their own right, and the band is comprised of musicians steeped in the lore of their chosen weapons...like Bards and Minstrels, wooing fair maidens and combatting evil wherever it may roam unchecked..... .
SubSoil is Organic. SubSoil is HipHop. SubSoil is Funk. SubSoil just IS...
Scientists have broken the compound Molecule of SubSoil into the following Elemental Components:

busty Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
LARRY "LAZ" GREEN: "Street shaman/Smoke Weed...Eat Ramen/ Live Zen, Spit Hashem and Dream Brahmin" Acidic lyrics inspired by years of Hip Hop/ Music Experience. Dark humor and brutal honesty mix with unmatched technical prowess. Known to beguile crowds with ludicrous antics while on stage. In the 5 minutes of free time a week, Laz Studies Philosophy, Religion, and the Occult. Endless trove of Comic Book Trivia. Master Chess Player. Urban Alchemist. Vegetarian.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
MOONEY: "It's Moon, The Blasphemous bufoon/One blow takin' out over half your platoon/Crushing ya'll skulls like a massive baboon/So Dope I blacken up all the backs of ya spoons..." Versatile Wordsmith with Machine-Gun delivery. Along with Laz, completes the binary Nexus of SubSoil. Lyrics can be political, introspective, or satirical and can still be accessible to all listeners. Can consume copious amounts of substances and still navigate NYC streets in van. Enjoys Vision Quests. Consummate Performer. Political Activist. Amateur folk singer, spoken word poet, lover. A Cocksmen, a gentleman and a scholar.

TED LADWIG aka THOROUGH THEO. "....watch Teddy throw a tantrum when he tickles the Triton" Manning the KORG isn't for the timid, but Thorough Theo commands the keys like a janitor...or a field general, conquering melodies with finger-flailing fury. Should've went to Harlem to that party. Next time Teddy...we promise.

On Guitar: Jared Busy-Beard Pratt. The busiest beard in NY belongs to Gerry Pratt. If your not completely wet and mesmerized by his guitar playing his beard will seduce you.

Katie Horn is the trumpet player. She has no photo at this moment, simply because her and Craig-O-Matic, the bassist, are from a tribe of indigenous peoples who believe that if you take their picture then you steal their soul. We are trying to snap them out of this backwards thinking, but it ain't easy. Hey, as primitive as they are, at least they know that Intelligent Design is NOT science. Silly fundamentalists! In any event, Katie plays the horn, and on occasion the glockenspiel. Craig slaps bass guitars and hookers.

Influencesall that is and does.
Sounds LikePoetic stimulus being injected into tribal rhythms from two lyrisists with little respect for socail institutions. Slaves to the groove. HIP_HOP

For booking inquiries or other band info call Mooney at 585-576-4400 - .

the melodic dementia will be explained soon.

SUBSOIL aims to (re)define Live-Band Hip-Hop, exploring a vast spectrum of sounds, feelings, and ideas. ‘Organic Hip-Hop Fusion’ best describes the 100% original live set, complete with improvisational keyboard, guitar, and trumpet solos! Subsoil’s debut full length release entitled “Worm’s Eye View” is set to drop May 2009. Then a multi-city summer schedule to spread our progressive hip-hop gospel to Every Town USA, to any listener willing to experience it. The “Traveling Medicine Show” Tour will kick off in May with multiple local performances (including the CD Release planned for the Club @ Water Street), Castaways in Ithaca, and a date in Buffalo. An appearance in Syracuse and a few small outdoor music events (Naples Music Fest, Weekend @ Chucky’s & Pineville Campground) are also in store for the Soil’s summer schedule. Subsoil 2009 shows are being supported by; GillaTeam Marketing, Act:Live, & Arthur Frasier. The 2 Vocalists Laz Green & Moon Roc experiment with a multitude of forms of rhythmic poetry, fitting for the multi genre motley crew of ruthless hobos. Moon raps truth to power, giving introspective insight, & sprawling soliloquies, displaying allegoric rhythmic trickery. Laz, with razor sharp, biting inflection delivers enticing, visceral wordplay, & intense imagery. They each also explore solo projects, crafting their trade as Subsoil keeps it humming. Every practice session Ted, Craig, Jared and Katie impassionedly jam, manifesting the ever growing library of vibrations. Steeped in the lore of their chosen weapons Subsoil remains true to the groove, getting down all the way, all day, all the way live, 24/7/365! The Soil cats have been described as “stem-winding salesmen who know every razzle-dazzle switch in the pitchman's trade.” Subsoil blends hip-hop & groove rock elements, keeping it musically diverse while infusing lyric-driven stimulation. Subsoil aims to remain independent and self-sufficient, as a burgeoning entity of creativity and progressive expression. One live set and most are hooked. Come get your chutney stewed by Subsoil. We aim to make bring the Soil's vibe live every where possible ASAP. Peace, Love, & Hip-Hop Subsoil Thanks to everyone who comes out to support, or does so on the internets, helped us book shows, booked our band, played with our band, cared or talked about our band. We love to make music and everyone who experiences or helps us practice that love, is our family. Big up: Reece Q, Destroy (both appear on the new subsoil cd), James (from Act:Live & Dubland), Drew Nye (Dubland), Lovin’ Cup, BugJar, Spikes, Kenny’s Castaways (NYC), Maggie’s (Plattsburg), Dewitt Shire (Syracuse), Funk & Waffles (Syracuse), Joe Gizzie (High Fidelity), Weekend at Chucky’s (Tony Gallicchio Funknut & Millhouse), Buffalo NY hip-hop heads, Type Relevant (glorious Buffalo hip-hop band), Ajent O, Tone X, Fresh Gauc, the Infringement Festival, Deep Thinka’s, Rhyson & the Heist (flavorful Buff hip-hop band), Broadway Joes (Buff), Merlin’s (Buff), and Nietzsche's (Buff), NYC hip-hop heads, Cloud 9 (NYC Band), Sophistafunk (Syracuse hip-hop band), Rick Ferrari (Hip-hop BBQ, & Sean Price show), Dan from Sick Gypsy, Scott Terry, GILLA-TEEN, Coach, Snacks, Po Boys Brass Band, The Legacy, Nickel Fields, Provide, & POUNDS. SUBSOIL is currently striking a balance between playing shows and writing/recording their FIRST FULL LENGTH LP. After the four-track mayhem of BOWEL GROOVEMENTS, The Soil needed a new standard to raise in battle and rally the troops behind.
