In 2001, bassist Jaime Horrigan discovered Julie Cymek singing Guns n Roses in a karaoke bar. He decided that they must make sweet music together... immediately! Cymek and Horrigan teamed up with producer Kevin Hill to create the band called Bittersweet and record their first full-length album, "This Is Bittersweet". After a few years and a few member changes, Cymek and Horrigan found an undeniable energy with two very talented and well-known local musicians: drummer Don Boyette and guitarist Omar ElDieahy...... Sweet Leda is born.
Cymek's sultry, powerful vocals and electrifying stage presence have helped make Sweet Leda one of the most exciting and accomplished live acts in Annapolis, a city known for its diverse music scene.
Combining new school funk, soul, and pop in a rich amalgam of heartfelt and original material that has drawn comparisons to Joss Stone, Janis, Maroon 5, Supreme Beings of Leisure, and Edie Brickell, Sweet Leda has taken the local music scene by storm with it's "sexy smooth rock and groove!"
So what can we expect from Sweet Leda?
Expect more original music, bigger shows and broader reach than ever! The band is more than halfway into writing their next album and has even begun making the studio arrangements! For now... you can get your hands on the EP "Bittersweet Changes" at shows and on iTunes. Also worth noting.... Sweet Leda's never before released single "My Angel" is now available on iTunes!
To date, Sweet Leda has been playing larger and larger venues... becoming a regular at Baltimore's 8X10 club as well as playing larger clubs such as Ram's Head Live! and Ram's Head On Stage.
What's next? I suggest you stay tuned!
Sweet Leda's song "My Angel" was used on A&E's television series "Random 1" during its first season 2005.
Sweet Leda's song "It Wasn't Me" was used in the independent film entitled "Dead Giveaway" in 2004.
