Taxi Nouveau is part of Montréal's new electronic music scene and is known throughout the international 8bit/chiptune music scene. Recent performances include: Toy Company, Pulse Wave (N-Y), Mix Sessions at the Société des arts technologiques (SAT), sets at the Arcadia, Fantasia festivals and also numerous participations at electronic art events in Canada, USA, Belgium, France and Netherlands.
Taxi Nouveau perform his songs for Game Boy, laptop and modified Christmas cards. The electro-dancehall-8bit driver promises you a non-stop thrill ride. His musical performance combine songs from his album with new pieces specially created for funky clubs. He is also a founding member of the 8bit Montreal collective Toy Company.
His first album released in 2008 is a selection of songs composed between 2004 and 2007. Created with intricately woven sounds and borrowing from various electronic styles, it invites the listener to discover a world that hovers with intense joy and mysterious excitement.
The man behind is Manuel Chantre, a freelance composer/sound designer/artist performer and DJ . He is also a part of the mysterious collective Pop Core (manuelchantre.wordpress.com). He has been making music with computer since 1996.
