Team Colors: Our Mission

Team Colors [militant research collective] | colores del equipo [colectivo de investigacion militante] is a collective engaged in 'militant research' to provide 'strategic analysis for intervention into everyday life'.

Our purpose is to explore questions of everyday resistance, mutual aid, the imposition of work, social reproduction, class composition, community participation and the commons - by creating engaging workshops and the producing provocative written documents and articles.

Currently Team Colors is based Brooklyn NY, Portland, OR, and Tucson, AZ. Our approach has come from our involvement in community organizing projects, community dialogs, and resistance activities in the countries largest suburb of Long Island, New York.

If war necessarily results, it is because the war machine collides with States and cities, as forces opposing its positive object: from then on, the war machine has as its enemy the State, the city, the state and urban phenomenon, and adopts as its objective their annihilation. It is at this point that the war machine becomes war: annihilate the forces of the state, destroy the state-form. - Deleuze and Guattari, .."A Thousand Plateaus.." ~ We are at war with one another; a battlefront runs through the whole of society, continuously and permanently, and it is this battlefront that puts us all on one side or the other. There is no such thing as a neutral subject. We are all inevitably someone..'s adversary. - Michel Foucault, .."Society Must be Defended.."

Radical intellectuals explore the relationship between research and resistance.

What is the relationship of radical theory to movements for social change? In a world where more and more global struggles are refusing vanguard parties and authoritarian practices, does the idea of the detached intellectual, observing events from on high, make sense anymore? In this powerful and unabashedly militant collection, over two dozen academic authors and engaged intellectuals—including Antonio Negri and Colectivo Situaciones—provide some challenging answers. In the process, they redefine the nature of intellectual practice itself.

Check out this new collection on AK Press in which Team Colors members Craig Hughes and Kevin Van Meter have a contribution written along with their good friend and co-author Ben Holtzman:
Do It Yourself . . . and the Movement Beyond Capitalism

Call for Submissions: Anarchist Yarns

Deadline: August 1st
Length: 1000 words or less
How to Submit: email louisvuittonnight@gmail.com

Description:
Anarchism has a bad rap. There are so many myths and negative assumptions about anarchists floating around that to wade through them all would turn anyone into a creature from the black and red lagoon. Which is why we’re devoting a whole issue to our stories from the silly to the poignant, from the hilahrious to the just fucked. We want everyone and their granny anarchy to write in a short little story that presents the real side of anarchists, whatever that may be. Don’t pull your punches though, no one’s selling anything, we want the truth and nothing but the truth. We are particularly interested in getting some good old punk house stories or stories about all the crazy anarchist co-op shit that goes down but we are equally interested in the personal side of things, the tears behind the sunglasses, so to speak. Honestly, it can even be made up if necessary, fuck the truth, in fact a bed-time story or two wouldn’t hurt anyone. We know you have your stories, and you have a full month, so make it work!

ps.
We’re still looking for anarchist erotic stories, do anarchists even have sex anymore?

Call for Short Articles on Anarchism and Science: Deadline April 1, 2008

***CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS! ANARCHISM AND SCIENCE!***

Anarchists have long discussed the role of science in our politics, ranging from arguing that anarchism is the highest stage of science to arguing that science is the root of oppression, hierarchy and authority. What does anarchist science look like in the 21st century, and how would it fight disease, promote the differently-abled and support those with mental illness?

The LV Night Review is the companion publication of Louis Vuitton Night, a bi-monthly variety show, aka: "Denver's Most Pensive Anarchist Variety Show." For more info on the show, check out myspace.com/louisvuittonnight. The LV Night Review is published monthly, so, if you can't make this deadline, don't despair! Just email us to get on the LVN Writer's Email-list and we'll keep you posted on themes down the road. Moreover, if you would like to check out articles from previous topics make your way to anarchyisforeveryone.org!

***DEADLINE***
April 1st, 2008!

***BACKGROUND***
Classical anarchists like Emma Goldman discussed anarchism as a rigorous scientific method, and theorized that authority and oppression were derived from a mystical/un-scientific world view. However, in this day and age, where we've seen the horrors of modern science, from animal testing to the atom bomb, and seen the implementation of science in furthering racism, homophobia and patriarchy, we cannot afford to be so optimistic. In fact, it is completely understandable why many anarchists today view science with contempt and disgust, positing a future where people rely entirely on folk knowledge and common sense
