The Chubbies started out as one girl named Jeannette Kantzalis, an old 8 track and alot of really great songs.
Long Gone John from Sympathy For The Record Industry discovered her little demo cassette and the rest is a bit of punk rock history!
Her debut on SFTRI was a 7" of one of those demos, "I’m The King".
A full length of the same name soon followed and Jeannette decided to take to the road. . .for a good, long time.
She found Christene Kings (one of the greatest drummers around!) in a garage in Long Beach, California and together they toured the world in a bright yellow shortbus.

If you think hearing "Auld Lang Syne" on New Year’s is bound to be ho-hum, you’re humming the wrong tune. On the Web, you can find a myriad of exciting alternative renditions for the stroke-of-midnight classic.....Below is a sampling of other online ditties waiting to be played on New Year’s.
THE CHUBBIES
For amply entertaining "grrrrl" rock, check out the Chubbies, featuring the wonderfully winning guitarist/vocalist Jeannette Kantzalis. Such tunes as "Play Me" and "My Rules" are instantly grabbing. "The Vegas Song" proves they can deliver a moving ballad. The Chubbies deserve a huge following.

11 Sympathy releases and 15 more on other indies and they’re still great friends.
Cortez fell on his knee and beautiful Nolita brought him to the other. A precious kneel, finally. She looked down and made a familiar head tilt. Just like mama, Josephine mused. Must be a woman thing. He saw the razor now in her hands. He felt fear and pride replacing power and lust. That weird urge of a yearning thing he got. He wasn't hard anymore, either. He used begging talk that Nolita once used. He lied that he was just going to scare her, that this was his particular get off. He looked very small. He looked scared. He looked very cheap. Like tarnished, loose change. A discarded heap. How many before me, boy? Nola didn't need an actual number, just a shaky, telling response would do. His answer made her ice clear. He needed this. He meant her end. She was not a stupid whore. A whore, yeah, but not a stupid one. Pray to me, boy, pray to me...
