The Circuit-Bent Project's recording sessions began officially in May of 2004. The project itself started much earlier than that though, it just didn't have a name yet. Back in the fall of 2000, Jesse Mesa-Savage aka Tablebeast, began experimenting with circuit-bending and soon came up with a grand idea. The project is a recycling of resources on a multifaceted scale: turning modified gear (Speak and Spells, Modular Casio SK-1's, Drum Machines, etc.) into an orchestra of equipment for recording and then selling the equipment to fund the recording and release of a record based on those very instruments. After years of gear building and sound experimentation, Jesse began working with Tim Wright in the summer of 2004 on what was now called The Circuit-Bent Project. This collaboration soon spawned the LP, Slow Children Playing. It was built one song at a time, each with a totally different appraoch based on the different machines used. Tim worked at crafting songs out of these circuit-bent sound samples culled from the Tablebeast-built devices. Over time very different songs emerged, some leaning towards rock, some leaning towards pure electronics, but none of them truly fitting in any specific genreThe Circuit-Bent Project debut LP, Slow Children Playing is the best material from nearly 11 months of these sessions. Writing was truly an interaction with equipment, more peer to peer than master/slave. In 2006 Tim Wright left The Circuit-Bent Project to do his own solo, self-produced project called 0+1. In 2008 The Circuit-Bent Project began work on a follow-up to Slow Children Playing. This time Jesse is steering the ship alone for now and enlisting many guest artists as the new project progresses. Stay tuned...
