Opera Mash-Up tonight will (as always) have live recordings of the whole evening. Tonite we are mashing Opera with Funk then our "Noise Encore" will be kicked off with punk (Brain Damage!!). But any of you who have been to these shows knows that we encourage musicans to come up and play and that The Famous Billy records it all.
We would LOVE LOVE LOVE some scatters (no...not poopers) to come out and scat during our funk jam session. So if you have a diddly-bop-do-whop in you, you should come out.
This Tuesday we are featuring Opera singer Rene Turner. Next Tuesday we have Miriam Leigh and the following Tuesday we have Laura Vacari. Brain Damaged promises to have at least two punk groups a night. And our crazy funk band will get you jump-jive-n-whalin.
As always, no cover. FREE! Under 21 welcome. I LOVE NOISE MUSICIANS!!! So come out an join us during our mash program and do a solo set during "Encore Noise". Even if all you have is a kazoo...dont be shy.

I know you guys are a CA band, but if you are ever in south FL, I am a fan and would love to book you at a "Girls in Bands" show. They are experimental, noise and indie bands that all the bands have at least one female. Here is a clip from our May 16 show with noise band Matrix Infinity. Our next show is August 8.
mountain cat (our singer robert) is planning an acoustic tour in june/july and needs shows in washington, oregon, california, nevada...basically anyplace west coasty.

New type of show on Wednesdays at Area 7. It is a live-recording jam session that lasts from 9pm to 12:30am. The session is loosely structured as follows:
9pm to 10pm (Layer 1): Opera Singer comes in with 4-5 songs. These songs are mic-ed off and recorded a few different ways. These original voice recordings serve as the base layer for the jam session. May 20 our singer is Michael Borosky and May 27 our singer is Diana Vander Neut.
10pm to 11pm (Layer 2): Sound Engineer "The Famous Billy" begins adding distorion and noise layers to the opera that was recorded. During this time we will also have featured readings from James A. Roberson.
11pm to 12am (Layer 3) Jazz quartet "Freddy, Dave, Allen and Friends" will come in to improv to the existing tracks. This will be the third and final layer to the jam session.
12am to 12:30am: "Freddy, Dave, Allen and Friends" will close out the evening with a traditional jazz set.
