THE STORY SO FAR
Since the bands inception in 2002 Pete Morten has been successfully developing Soliloquy’s unique brand of progressive metal. In a genre too often defined by Dream Theater sound alike’s, Soliloquy offer an original and somewhat quirky take on tried and tested formulas.
From their humble beginnings [The creative Principle] to their latest stunning release,
full-length E.P. Esoterica, Soliloquy have had many successes in their relatively underground and unsigned career. Most notable are shows with Pagens Mind, Power Quest, Oliver Wakeman, and Threshold. Plus a second-to-headline set at Bloodstock 05 featuring Within Temptation and a warm-up showcase for 2007’s ProgPower UK II all add
to an impressive C.V. for Soliloquy thus far.
The band even had the honour of appearing in one of Robert Rankin’s novels ‘The Witches of Chiswick’ (Internationally renowned Comedy/Fantasy Author) who placed the band in a fictional venue where The Beatles had originally honed their talents before finding fame and fortune.
Added to this, are a film soundtrack appearance for English independent film Retribution and countless radio airplay and interviews worldwide.
Pete Morten in particular is proving to be quite a prolific artist in his own right.
In 2007 he joined Prog Metal giants Threshold for their world tour and is now a full-time member. He is also the lead singer for Power Quest and Nightmare World and has recorded extensive backing vocals on both Clive Nolans ‘Caarmora - She’ album and NeverBorn’ new album. He is also to guest on Navigator’ new concept record in the role of a Russian Soldier.
Having survived personnel problems and line-up changes Pete Morten’ Soliloquy can now look forward to a bright future with the release of their forthcoming debut album ‘The Interpreter’ in 2010 on Sensory Records [Laser Group] in America and Europe.
LIVE REVIEWS
“They opened powerfully and energetically with Inner Circles followed by an amazing instrumental called Soulwork. Lead vocalist and guitarist Pete Morten commits heart and soul to each song. Soliloquy do polished intricate stuff and carry it off live, as they
finished off their set with old fave ‘Fractured’, an aggressive progmetal workout, earning loud applause”.
The Vic Inn (21st March 2007)
Set List : Inner Circles/Soul Work/Alias Me/To See New Horizons/Adaptation/Fractured
"Soliloquy set the ball rolling with a set of highly technical and extremely well-played progressive metal. As the crowd seemed too nervous to approach the stage, guitarist and main man Pete Morten took the metal to the masses, leaping off stage and walking straight up the audience, never missing a beat. Their material is fluid yet deep, although Pete and his cohorts made everything look extremely easy".
John Tucker (31st March 2007 - ProgPower UK II)

"This is clever stuff, it's brilliant. Soliloquy are destined for festivals and concert halls.
A stunning performance".

CD REVIEWS
"Soliloquy fuse skilled instrumentation with vocals that recall Lance King and Geoff Tate.
Add majestic keyboards, tribal rhythms, percussion and nifty - bordering on neo-classical -
shredding to the mix and all I'm left thinking is... why these guys are still in the demo
stage is beyond me."
Powerplay magazine, June 2005
"This is certainly for anyone seeking intelligent prog metal...
intense and complex... Competent and memorable, this is something for fans of
Dream Theater and Watchtower. Check Pete Morten's high-pitched vocals!"
Terrorizer magazine, June 2005
"Of Earth And Sky jumps out of the speakers at you... [and is] very progressive in its
musical anbitions and in its structure. I feel this band have the potential to go far."
Virtuosa magazine, Issue 8, 2005
"The writing and musicianship is great, can't wait to see what they can do with a full
album's worth of material."
Royal Carnage web site, October 2003
"Soliloquy have proved to be a very capable and versatile band and can play a solid
mix of progressive / power metal."
