Threshold are one of the leading lights of the progressive metal scene. Now celebrating twenty years together, Threshold continue to make powerful and innovative rock music both on record and on stage.
Reinforced by the return of their original vocalist Damian Wilson (Star One, Rick Wakeman) in 2007, Threshold are built on the foundation of guitarist and producer Karl Groom, who's production credits include Guitar Hero stars DragonForce and progressive rock icons John Wetton and Pendragon.
Threshold's latest single "Pilot In The Sky Of Dreams" won the CRS Song Of The Year Award and is featured on the 2008 Hollywood soundtrack "In The Name Of The King". With their highly aclaimed eighth album "Dead Reckoning" out now on Nuclear Blast Records, Background magazine proudly proclaims that "the kings of British prog metal are back!"
Formed in the south of England in the late 1980s, Threshold combined their influences of heavy metal and progressive rock to craft their own unique sound which was a far cry from the commercial sound of the time. "Wounded Land" was released on GEP Records in 1993, and was hailed as the best debut album of the year. The following few years brought three more albums "Psychedelicatessen", "Extinct Instinct" and "Clone", and tours with bands such as Dream Theater, Psychotic Waltz and Pain Of Salvation. Threshold's original vocalist Damian Wilson featured on the first and third albums, taking a break in between while Glynn Morgan took over the role for the second album.
By the end of the decade Threshold were signed to Inside Out Music and were fronted by vocalist Andrew McDermott. Two more studio albums "Hypothetical" and "Critical Mass" followed, bringing long-awaited chart success for the band, and in 2003 the live DVD "Critical Energy" was released documenting Threshold's live show on film for the first time. "Subsurface" was released the following year, hailed as "absolute perfection" by Darkscene and scooping fifteen "Album Of The Month" awards, confirming it as one of the essential rock albums of 2004.
Threshold then moved to Nuclear Blast Records and released their eighth studio album "Dead Reckoning" in 2007, bringing the band their greatest chart success so far. Shortly after the release of the album Threshold's original vocalist Damian Wilson returned for the band's tour dates which have now extended into 2009.
