8 studio albums, 19 countries toured, 20 years together and the UK's leading progressive metal band Threshold are stronger than ever. The band are fronted once again by original vocalist Damian Wilson (Star One, Rick Wakeman) and founded on the cornerstone of songwriters / producers Karl Groom & Richard West (DragonForce, John Wetton). Threshold's latest single "Pilot In The Sky Of Dreams" won the CRS Song Of The Year Award and is featured on the Hollywood soundtrack "In The Name Of The King". With their CD "Dead Reckoning" out now on Nuclear Blast Records, Background magazine proclaims that "the kings of British prog metal are back with another outstanding album." Threshold are currently performing at festivals across Europe.
Formed in the south of England in the late 1980s, Threshold combined their influences of heavy metal and progressive rock to craft their own unique sound which was a far cry from the commercial sound of the time. "Wounded Land" was released on GEP Records in 1993, and was hailed as the best debut album of the year. The following few years brought three more albums "Psychedelicatessen", "Extinct Instinct" and "Clone", and tours with bands such as Dream Theater, Psychotic Waltz and Pain Of Salvation. Threshold's original vocalist Damian Wilson featured on the first and third albums, taking a break in between while Glynn Morgan took over the role for the second album.
By the end of the decade Threshold were signed to Inside Out Music and had moved onto their third vocalist Mac. Three more studio albums "Hypothetical", "Critical Mass" and "Subsurface" followed, a live DVD "Critical Energy" and long-awaited chart success for the band. "Subsurface" was released the following year, hailed as "absolute perfection" by Darkscene and scooping fifteen "Album Of The Month" awards, making it one of the essential rock albums of 2004.
Threshold then moved to Nuclear Blast Records and released their eighth studio album "Dead Reckoning" in 2007, bringing further chart success and eleven more "Album Of The Month" awards. Shortly after the release of the album Mac left the band, so Threshold's original vocalist Damian Wilson returned for the tour.
