In the late summer of 2007 Lee Thomson called old friend Jennie Matthias to see if she would be interested in assisting him and Keith Finch with a new Ska project. Jen hooked up with Keith at his JA13 studio and started writing the lyrics and melodies to some of Keith's backing tracks. By Christmas they had six tracks ready to demo. A band was gradually developed around the desired sound, and after an experimental show at the 100 Club, the decision was made to finish an album before any more live shows were considered.

LEE THOMPSON (saxophone/vocals) Lee has a distinctive sax sound that could never be copied. Lee also writes and sings and is a highly confident and entertaining performer. JENNIE MATTHIAS (lead vocals) Jennie is a brilliant songwriter and hit it off with Keith instantly, she is a highly professional performer, motivator and organizer. Jen and Lee have known each other since 1981. KEITH FINCH (Production, various instruments, vocals) Keith is the bands technical genius, he creates the tracks for the rest of the group to add their musical creations. CHICO CHAGAS (keyboards, guitars, bass, accordion etc!) Chico plays most instruments confidently. He supplies the intricate keyboards and accordion, and adds guitar, bass, and flute when he's in the mood. He worked with Keith previously in 2002 on a Brazilian project. CHALKY WHITE (trumpet) is a colleague of Lee’s in various bands, writes some great riffs, and has a passion for playing SKA music. DANIEL BURDETT (guitarist) is a talented guitarist who doubles up vocally, has a knack for coming up with catchy riffs, is a confident performer and has a great singing voice. DEBRA BARKER, (backing vocals) Deb has been working with Keith for a few years and is part of the JA13 production team. She adds an interesting contrast to Jennie and Lee's lead vocals, and is also the bands expert on nutrition and fitness!!

MYSPACE was chosen as a forum to share THE DANCE BRIGADE sound with others. We have encountered many talented people who have embraced our sound and in doing so have become inspired to create logo‘s, short movies, posters, CD covers, often using our tracks as a backdrop for their creations. Other people who have assisted us with blogs, let us use their pictures, offered information and ideas, sent lovely comments offering their support…we also see these people as members of THE DANCE BRIGADE family- and thank them very much for their help.
