Sounds Like
Fast paced insurgent acoustic music: A traditional bluegrass line-up with a non traditional bluegrass kick. This ain't your grandpappy's bluegrass!!
From the front porch of the Flinthills in East Central Kansas comes The DeWayn Brothers. After two full years of touring, doing 253 dates in 2006, and 235 dates in 2007, we have started 2008 with a bang!! Touring down to Miami and playing on The Rock Boat, Ships and Dips, The Mayercraft Carrier, and The Cayamo songwriters cruise! We have evaded Oklahoma cops searching the bus, 9 inches of snow in Illinois, more cops in Arkansas, 110 degrees of New Mexico, more cops in Texas, and all the big city driving you can do in a 40 foot bus. We saw a shoot-out in Tulsa and a huge fight break out in Tempe, busted out windows, and sheared off locks, and of course more state cops!
The DeWayn Brothers are a fast paced insurgent bluegrass band drawing influences from old timey bluegrassers, to punk rock and metal, their shows are high energy from start to finish. With the best female vocalist in the midwest, Jamie Lee belts out songs of lost loves and bad guys, to The Boy singing about death and drinking, or just picking a good ol' banjo song about gettin rabies from your own dog, DeWayn is pushing their Kansgrass sound all over the country. With Josh Finley possibly one of the fastest mando players in the country and an incredible artist added to the mix you would think he was an 80's shredder not a bluegrass mandolin player. Peter Gaskamp hammerin away on that upright bass is the driving force behind DeWayns' powerful sound.
On March 30th DeWayn released their 3rd full length album "Farmer". Recorded by Mike West at "The Ninth Ward Pickin Parlor" in Lawrence KS.
It was recorded between the days of Feb. 5th-11th. It has 18 songs and we owe thanks to Ty Zeiner and Family, Roy and Brenda Briggeman, and all the other folks who invested in our CD.
