The Divide was born in the middle of the Norfolk Broads.
In the early 1980s, Garth Coupland and Simon Bateman found themselves playing in an original rock band called, among other things, Deviator.
After a few gigs the band folded, and that was that.
OR SO EVERYBODY THOUGHT......
Sometime early in the new Millenium, Garth decided to re-invent the band, renamed THE DIVIDE.
The only member of the old line up interested was bass player Simon, so
guitar and keyboard duties fell to Garths son, Ross. The drum stool was
filled by a young Peter Rednall. Another guitarist was sought and,
reluctantly at first, long time friend of both Garth and Simon, Howie Marsh
was installed as six string slinger. Peter departed due to other commitments.
Paul Oxborough currently fills the sticks position.
