We're a radical lending library and community space located in the historic neighborhood of Oregon Hill in Richmond, Virginia. Our collection includes books, zines, periodicals, and other media about class, labor, feminism, sex, queer issues, immigration, anarchism, DIY, health, fiction, biography, art, film, religion, travel, psychology, peace, communism, poetry, plays, revolution, energy, environmentalism, animal rights, disability issues, gender, economics, urban studies, education, race, civil rights, and more! The R.N.C. 8 are our comrades, arrested in Minnesota, U.S.A. for providing logistical support for the protesters who came to Saint Paul in September '08 to express our feelings of dislike, indeed loathing, for the damned fascists who attended the Republican National Convention. The R.N.C. 8 may be tried in September of '09 and their trial will be the most important U.S.A. political trial in forty years. They are to be tried under Minnesota's equivalent of the U.S.A. Patriot Act, and our very right to dissent in a supposedly "free" country is at risk. Alison Online Now!	Nov 4 2008 7:59 PM I am writing to invite you to meet with others from around the region interested in organizing against the Farmville immigrant detention center. The meeting will be held from 6 - 8 pm on Sunday 11/9 at Sacred Heart Church in Richmond, 1401 Perry St. We'll be in a small building behind the church and will have signs to mark the way. The national organization Grassroots Leadership has agreed to get involved in this struggle and one of their organizers, Les Schmidt, will be in attendance. We will give an update on the organizing that has happened so far, share any results we have gotten from our FOIA request by then, and discuss the primary goal of stopping the prison from opening and secondary goals like establishing an outside, independent review board. We'll also have time to discuss ways this organizing can support the work we are all already doing and expand/strengthen our regional network for justice.
