Think…Elvis and Cash walk through one door and exit the other wearing frocks; well that’s Frockabilly...that's 'The Frantastics!'
Each drawing upon their own diverse musical backgrounds and influences, Frances (vocals/guitar), Jenny (bass/vocals) and Lauren (drums), mix and distil their musical alchemy, a steam train collision of retro 'Rock n Roll' meets 'Country' with a bit of 21st Century thrown in for good measure.
Frances attended ’Goldsmiths Uni’ in the hope of learning how to read music, whilst busking for her daily bread and butter on the 'London Underground' in the bad old days when it was still illegal (guerrilla busker); alack, she left Uni none the wiser. 'Art Garfunkel' spent many an hour trying to teach her how to read music, eventually throwing his arms up in despair crying, 'Fuck it Frances, whatever it is you’re doing keep doing it, it works!’ She went on to compose for the jingle business.
Jenny is a multi instrumentalist, if it makes a sound, it’s probable she can play it and get a tune out of it; she’s been gigging up and down the country since the tender age of 15! Hmmm...isn't that child labour? She's also our 'Super Tekkie / MD'.
Lauren is our very own 'Animal,' that's why she's on drums. Since a wee little gal she's been hitting things and getting herself into an awful lot of trouble, so we've decided it's not only wise but in everyone's interest to keep her at the back...'Down girl down'
And on occasion...
Andrew (guest Drummer) has been inaugurated into the ‘Preservation Hall’ New Orleans.
Sam (guest Bass) having studied at ’The Royal College of Music'.
Now that’s what you call an eclectic mix, the sum total being 'The Frantastics.'
Hey, thanks for the add hunnies! :)Thought you were totally ace at the Magic Theatre the other weekend and looked a squillion dollars...I want one of them red polka dot dresses! Sob! :D 8)
