The Freaks Fusion are a band based in Manchester, I say based for one reason, Benn (Drums) is the only member of the band who is actually local, and you can tell what that’s done to him! Andy (Bass) is from Liverpool, Christos (Vocals) is from Athens, Greece, and Eduardo (Guitar) is from Zaragoza, Spain, although Christos lives in Sheffield, the rest of the band live in the Manchester Area.
This contrast of multicultural backgrounds, combined with the band’s eclectic musical tastes are clearly reflected in their ever-changing repertoire of music, and heavily influences the groups playing both in their writing, and their take on other peoples music, clearly putting their own firm stamp on the songs they cover and not merely copying them. Thus resulting in a variety of sounds, from solid, heavy and raw funk grooves which make you move your feet and get down, for example their roaring top-class number Super Funk, where Benn enjoys beating the skins through to the other side of the drums, slow rock jams such as The Momentum in where the power and feeling of Christos’ voice is clearly shown, to hefty hard-hitting Latin workouts, with their undoubtedly fantastic rendition of Santana’s epic Black Magic Woman, which is guaranteed to get you moving and of course allows Andy and Eduardo to stretch their fingers to the limit!
