| About The Ginger Envelope |
Forming originally in 2003, the ginger envelope was comprised of long-time friends Patrick Carey and Matt Stoessel. In due time, their synergy developed and grew as fellow musicians Jason Robira (percussion), Jason Trahan (guitar), and Steve Miller (bass), joined the pair.
The added trio came frome Lafayette, LA based art-rock group Urbosleeks, which relocated to Athens in 2000 on the wings of a ten year creative run. With the new group, Carey led the band into newer material, wound together with Stoessel's phrasing on the pedal steel; (Stoessel has also appeared with Centomatic, South San Gabriel, Summer Hymns, and Don Chambers' Goat). In 2004, the ginger envelope released a 5 song EP and began appearing alongside local bands Summer Hymns, the Late BP Helium, Venice is Sinking, Geoff Reacher, and Dark Meat. The next year, the band entered Asa Leffer's DARC Studios in Athens, GA to record their debut full-length record, later mastered by Glen Schick in Atlanta and subsequently given the title Edible Orchids. The Year 2008 presented with bright new beginnings and endings as Ginger Envelope said a warm goodbye to drummer Jason Robira in order than he may focus on other current endeavors and the subsequent welcome addition of Colin Carey on drums and Paul McHugh (Mother Jackson) keyboards. The band currently resides in Athens, GA, where work on the follow up record is underway and expected to be released February 2009.
