Sounds Like
Stupid question, I mean, is this really a good question for anyone? Even if you do sound like someone else, what musician wants to admit it? But here goes... half the members from R.E.M., 1989ish era (you get to choose which ones) are out at a show and end up getting called on stage to play an encore with Bill Frisell, a guy who went to school with those two guys from Phish, The piano player from Velvet Underground, and Connor Oberst who just came back from a week at guitar camp and learned a truckload of weird jazz guitar chords. Does this sound a bit narcissistic? Stupid question.

Press Quotes
“Boston’s The Grownup Noise is easy like Sunday morning—lazy, warm, and full of the best intentions. The quartet blends sleepy melodies with guitarist-vocalist Paul Hansen’s intelligent croon... The Grownup Noise’s best asset, however is the songwriting, with lines of love and the changing seasons coming out as gently and colorful as the music itself."
-The Onion, AV Club
“Music Pick: Straight out of Boston in their veggie oil -powered band van, The Grownup Noise is a playfully poppy indie rock quartet with armfuls of groove. Their basic rock instrumentation—drums, guitar and bass—is laced with melodic vocals and stirring cello."
-The Valley Advocate, Northampton, Ma
"One listen will very likely win you over. They make arresting music." -Ryan's Smashing Life
"Loaded with hooks upon hooks upon still more hook, this Beantown quartet delivers eclectic but impossibly catchy pop nuggets laced with poetic, thought-pro-voking lyricism." -Seven Days Paper, Burlington, VT.
"It is rare to see a show where every song holds its own distinct pleasure, but The Grownup Noise delivered just that." - Brandeis University Press
"This was The Grownup Noise tour-send off show, and the room swelled right as they were hitting the stage. These kids were on fire, delivering the best set I've yet seen from them. They also play kind-of-quiet indie-pop, but they know how to rock out."
-Boston Band Crush
"The Grownup Noise not only deliver an outstanding performance, but know how to connect with their audience and remind you what it is like to be entertained!"
- Jaron Luksa, Production Manager: House of Blues, Anaheim, CA. Tour sound engineer/ Manager for The Dresden Dolls/ Angelique Kidio/ Margaret Cho
“At a time when pop has become most people’s guilty pleasure, it is as refreshing as it is rare to find a band that is not afraid to explore the genre as innovators.”
- Good Times Paper, Santa Cruz Ca.
"At home in both the rock club and the coffeehouse, the band also has this indie rock vibe that is, nonetheless, friendly, accessible, even earnest." - The Schenectady Gazette
It was great to finally meet you all and have a chance to play with you. You have an awesome sound and we can't wait to see you again when we make it out to Boston next year. Hope the rest of the tour goes smooth for you.
i love that i came to leave you a message and attis beat me to it. due to an unfortunate tooth mishap, i'm bored in atlanta instead of having a great time at your show =( i guess that means mr. clopton and i will just have to crash another show! when you least expect it!
