Right now, our EP is hotter than a flaming case of hemorrhoids, but not nearly as unfortunate. We've gotten an assload of positive reviews by: MetalReview.com, Hardcore Sounds (a webzine based out of Finland), and The East Coast Romper, among others. Click on the links below to check 'em out...
HERE ARE SOME REVIEWS:
"The Hawthorne Effect utilize more of the intelligible and slightly more inspired approach often coming off like a less schizophrenic Dillinger Escape Plan or infinitely more melodic Between the Buried and Me."
(MetalReview.com)
"A fighting force for fierce time changes and disparate compositional elements! It harks of prime Mr. Bungle and Fantomas...but with a more accessible flavour."
(HardcoreSounds.net)
"What really got my attention was the overall quality of this disc from the craftsmanship of the music to the top notch production that rivals a lot of stuff on labels. This EP should garner some well deserved attention."
(East Coast Romper)
"Not many think of Rhode Island when they close their eyes to envision true heavy music, but with the emergence of the Hawthorne Effect maybe those times are just around the corner."
(Smother Magazine)
"A Study in Motivation is a great four song demo. In fact, it's probably the best demo I heard in all 2006."
(Rough Edge)
"Fastidious music for fastidious listeners..." (8 out of 10)

...:::ABOUT THE HAWTHORNE EFFECT:::...
The Hawthorne Effect could be called a progressive metal band, but it’s a description that may not accurately sum up the Providence, RI quintet. Mixing elements of metal, jazz, and funk, with odd time signatures, the goal is to give the listener something completely different, yet still maintain a sense of melody and familiarity.
The result is The Hawthorne Effect’s debut EP “A Study in Motivation”. Recorded at Zing Studios with Eric Arena (Under Falling Skies, Endwell), mixed by Jim Fogarty (Killswitch Engage, The Acacia Strain), and mastered by Alan Douches (Between the Buried and Me, Misfits, Dillinger Escape Plan), the album is ultimately heavy at its core, melodic in its delivery, and ambitious throughout. The combination of grinding but intricate guitars laid over a playful and captivating bass line and polyrhythmic drumming can be heard throughout the EP. And just when the song seems to be heading towards a path of normalcy, a quick tempo shift seamlessly takes it to somewhere completely new.
The band’s greatest strength may just be in its use of 4 different and distinct voices both on the EP and during live shows. The use of low to high range screams combined with 3 and 4 part harmonies and lead vocal tradeoffs keeps the melody driving while still maintaining a memorable feel. Incorporating piano, keyboard, organ, and percussive instruments creates a unique sonic blend of aggression and tranquility, compounded by the contrast of minor and major scales not typically found in heavy music.
Currently, The Hawthorne Effect is taking “A Study in Motivation” on the road, proving their sound is not just the result of studio magic. Having played together in one form or another for nearly 5 years, the band is just now discovering its own unique sound, which finds them sharing the stage with several different genres of music and bands including Beyond the Embrace, Diecast, Senses Fail, Fairweather, On Broken Wings, Hell Within, and many more. The EP and the very band itself has been a culmination of years of involvement in the ever-increasing local New England music scene. For the 5 members of The Hawthorne Effect at least, the result was worth the effort. Their hope is that fans of heavy music will agree.

Gentlemen, It has come to my attention that my T.H.E. levels are low. I need a show and some more semi-racist Nintendo Wii bowling. Ah yes, warm beer and really "brilliant" girls might also help ease the pain.
Hi there The Hawthorne Effect first of all we'd like to say thanks for being our myspace pal. We wanted to make sure you knew the reason incase we suddenly vanish off of your friends list. The movement we've started for indie artists has grown significantly and consumes all of our time these days. We seldom sign into our myspace account and this is making several people believe that we are ignoring them. We are not ignoring anyone, we wanted everyone to know that. What we're doing has become so busy we just don't have the time for myspace any longer, so in all honesty we are pr
