Review

"From a buyer's standpoint, get ready to be slammed with a great album. Paul's voice, even at 17, is amazingly epic. The drums are extremely powerful and keep a great beat to move the music. I can honestly say I had chills from tracks 1 through 8. Definitely a great buy, very worth the price." -StateChampsChris-

   About The Loch

This Southeast Texas Quintet took the Golden Triangle region by storm in 2006 with a sound that rang true to the band's alternative and folk roots. The band consists of Lead Vocalist, Keys, and Guitar player - Paul Carpenter, Bass player - Nathan Vaughn, Guitar and Keys - Daniel McClelland, Organist and Keyboard player - Tyson Peveto, and Drummer - Ben Carpenter. Concert goers were able to experience a fresh, new, and inviting sound in a geographical area which was then dominated by Metal and Screamo acts. With a goal to bring to the table new and exciting music designed to inspire audiences and sway emotions, The Loch had developed a radical new regional following by the end of the year.

2007 saw the release of The Loch's ambitious debut full length album, "February", which contained 8 original songs that quickly became frequented in car stereos throughout the region. The album was a catchy yet diverse montage of thoughtful and heartfelt compositions, strongly influenced by southern culture and religious upbringings. Songs like "I Am Ashamed" drew listeners in with soul searching lyrical content while song's like the album's title track "February" left an unforgettable musical hook embedded into the minds of concert goers and casual at home listeners alike. It was clear that The Loch was sending a message to their listeners that, however embedded within words and melodies, invited them in and made evident the real meaning behind the music.

With a new album under their belts and a slew of regional gigs, The Loch pushed forward to expand into the surrounding cities such as Austin and Houston. With fans begging for more, 2009 saw the release of "Leap Year: A Supplement to February" which contained 4 new original songs including a newly recorded version of "February". Leap Year was marketed as a continuation of the debut "February" and was well lavished with folk and alternative influences. The second album is more introspective and acoustically driven than the first, but similar in overall feel and mood. After opening with a quick lo-fi acoustic tune, the album jumps into the bouncy and bold composition, "Drama Queen", which has quickly become a fan favorite. All in all, "Leap Year" is an inspirational complement to an already outstanding album.

Today, The Loch is preparing for a third release that is sure to be as diverse and thoughtful as the first. Stay posted as the kinks are hammered out, new happenings are blogged, and a release date is posted. You won't want to miss out on what this dynamic Texas alt folk outfit has in store.

Many thanks for the add. Hope you enjoy the music and message behind it. My mission in life is to fight Human Trafficking. understanding the individual pain of others is sometimes to painful for an other individual to touch and that is frightening ...
what i mean is that someone whose life is not traumatized and brutalized as a regular sequence of every day events unconsciously seeks the camouflage and shelter of apathy and banality from the reality of such devastating anguish and terror ...

but the spirit of young people who are used as sex slaves in the systematized global industry of human trafficking is now reaching out to the human fellowship in hope and desperation and through technology ...

it is scary when humanity turns a blind eye to this horror ...
its like ignoring genocide whilst it is happening ...

what i am asking is that if you hear the cry of these young people who are existing in an environment of torture and brutality each and every day that you then please do not turn away from them ...

please reach deeply into your heart and soul and please in 2009 join a movement or become a part of an event that challenges modern slavery in the 21st century ...
