In the past the name The Main Ingredient could be found in two of many places. First from an early 70s male soul group and second from a 1994 Pete Rock and CL Smooth HipHop album. Now the name has resurrected itself again in a sample based producer/dj born and raised in South Jersey.
I am theMAIN INGREDIENT, Ive djed for seven years and done production for two years. I belong to a dj, turntablist crew named the Crate Kickers Crew based out of De, Pa, and NJ. Some of my influences are Hi Tek, Pete Rock, JDilla, Nottz, Premo, Joey Chavez, Alchemist, and the list goes on. For my production I use a MPC2500, Reason and Logic software, Rane Serato and whatever RECORDS I can get my hands on.
Some of my major accomplishments are the 2001 Philly Kool Mix and 2002 CherryHill Guitar Center Dj battles in which I was a finalist in each. Also most resent I was the December 2005 IPA WINNER, a producer battle held in NY (http://www.ipa-battle.com/)and the 2006 REDBULL BEAT BATTLE WINNER in DE.
I would like to make music that people LOVE, not just today or tomorrow but 20 years from now.
