The Name is a trio from Sorocaba (countryside of state of São Paulo). Usually what come next are the words: post-punk, Brazilian Manchester, dance-punk, party music, classic house pianos and stuffs like that. After several tours in many Brazilian states and more than a hundred gigs last year and gigs thru North America (including the legendary SXSW in Texas), The Name takes a break to record the first complete long play album. So while most of the newest Brazilian bands seem to break his head to understand what is the right way, the guys believe that the future is now. With great new features on the sleeve, the band announced in 2010 a contract with the label Vigilante (twitter.com / semprevigilante), a partner label of the major Deckdisc Records (www.deckdisc.com - which also brings MIM, Boss In Drama, Homemade Blockbuster, Mickey Gang , Volantes, Colombia Coffee, Vespas Mandarinas and Vivendo do Ócio), by which happened in May, their first release: "Can You Dance Boy / Let Go The Things" which, thanks to an always intense concert schedule and entertaining clip from "Let The Things Go", put the band highlighted. In October/2010 the band released their second single by the new label: Come out Tonite/Time For Fun, the B-side was produced by Chuck Hippolitho. But, among these, the icing on the cake of last year was the first nomination in the VMB's category APOSTA MTV (brazilian’s MTV VMA), which demonstrates the excellent wind that passes. The next steps? Play, dance, have fun and, now certainly, a full album in 2011 ... But that's just the beginning.

O The Name é um trio de Sorocaba (interior de São Paulo). Geralmente, o que vem a seguir, são as palavras: pós-punk, manchester braileira, dance-punk, música para festa, pianos de house clássica e coisas do tipo. Depois de várias turnês por diversos estados brasileiros contabilizando cerca de cem shows no ano passado, além de shows pela américa do norte (passando pelo lendário SXSW, no Texas), o The Name começa a produção do seu primeiro álbum completo. Assim, enquanto boa parte da novíssima cena de bandas brasileiras parece quebrar a cabeça para entender qual é o caminho certo, o trio entende que o futuro é agora. Com grandes novidades na manga, a banda anunciou em 2010 o contrato com o Selo Vigilante (twitter.com/semprevigilante), da gravadora Deckdisc (www.deckdisc.com – que traz também também Mim, Boss In Drama, Homemdade Blockbuster, Mickey Gang, Volantes, Colombia Coffee, Vespas Mandarinas e Vivendo do Ócio), pelo qual aconteceu, em maio, o seu primeiro lançamento pelo selo: o sucesso de crítica e público “Can You Dance Boy/Let The Things Go” que, graças também a uma sempre intensa agenda de shows por grande parte do país e ao divertido clipe de “Let The Things Go”, colocou a banda sorocabana em destaque. Já em Outubro do mesmo ano, foi lançado o segundo trabalho do grupo pelo novo selo: Come out Tonite/Time For Fun, com o lado B do single produzido por Chuck Hippolitho. A cereja do bolo do ano passado porém foi a indicação ao VMB na categoria Aposta MTV, o que demonstra a excelente fase pela qual a banda passa. Os próximos passos? Tocar, dançar, se divertir e agora um disco completo neste ano de 2011… Mas isso é só o começo.
