Forming in Adelaide in mid 2004, The Open Season signed to Pee Records only days after releasing their first demo tracks online. Since then, the band has made their mark on the local and Australian scene, releasing two acclaimed EPs locally produced by respected engineer Darren Thompson, backed up with a solid gig roster of crowd-impressing shows across the country with some of Australia’s and America’s finest bands. The Open Season released their debut EP, ‘CHASE’ in 2005 which debuted at no 1 on the SA Real Music Charts (AWESAM) and sold out of its first pressing within a few weeks.
Their unique brand of fine tuned melodic Aussie rock regularly finds the mainstream airwaves of Triple J and Nova along with a vast range of regional and overseas stations. A highlight for the band was in 2005 where ‘CHASE’ was voted as one of Triple J’s Short Fast Loud Top 40 releases for the year.
Never ones to shy away from a challenge, the band hit the studio late 2006 to record their follow up EP 'BEFORE WE START'. The latest release is a refined composition, 5 blistering anthems; a recording that was certain to top the success of their first release.
With an explosive and impressive live show, the band has gained much respect from local and interstate punters, critics and artists alike. On the strength of this and their two EPs to date, THE OPEN SEASON have played alongside the likes of Gyroscope, Something With Numbers, New Found Glory (USA), The Audition (USA), Motion City Soundtrack (USA), Matchbook Romance (USA), Mere Theory, After The Fall, Lagwagon (USA), Kisschasy, In The Grey, Forgetting Yesterday, Angelas Dish, STR, Straylight Run (USA), Trial Kennedy, Horsell Common, In Fiction, The Hot Lies, The Getaway Plan, Behind Crimson Eyes and Parkway Drive to name a few.
With an already impressive 2007 drawing to a close, The Open Season have their sights set on the new year, with plans for a full length release, more touring and their biggest year yet. What started as a garage project between four mates has now developed a life of its own, proof that the hard yards are the surest way to success.
