  • Bio

WE NO LONGER USE MYSPACE! CONTACT US ON FACEBOOK OR: theporterdraw@gmail.com .... August 7, 1904 train 11 on the Missouri/Pacific and Denver/Rio Grande 41 headed south in the rain from Denver. A washed-out bridge upstream added pressure to the railroad crossing. As engineer James Smith slowed the train due to the weather the bridge at Porter Draw gave, killing 97 of the 150 passengers. It was the worst train wreck in history. .... The Albuquerque based band of similar moniker, (The Porter Draw; all good bands have a ‘the’), sounds arguably better than the name’s origin. Their aggressive blend of Americana and Country makes use of traditional vocal harmony and the songwriting talents of three of the band’s members. Their talents have, in performance, complemented well bands such as Cross Canadian Rag Weed and The Reverend Horton Heat. .... Founding members include Josh Gingerich and Russell Pyle. Josh brings a sort of Houston School of songwriting along with beefed up flat-picking skills. Russell, also a songwriter, contributes knowledge of east coast hardcore and pop/punk style and performance practice. The duo added banjo player, Ben Wood, who brought his own songs and a love of Old Time and Second Generation Bluegrass. These three trade lead vocals, backing each other in skillful harmony. Recent additions, Stefan Martinez and Joey Gonzales (formerly of garage/indie band The Dirty Novels) both bring rock and roll sensibilities to contribute a solid rhythm section that keeps this train chugging solidly on the rails. .. .. ............

    see you tonight?

FEBUARY 12TH @ SAIL INN - HILLGRASS BLUEBILLY PRESENTS: THE 3RD ANNUAL "LOSER'S BALL" featuring: DEX ROMWEBER (of "Flat Duo Jets" fame), EXENE CERVENCA (of "X" fame) & OUR OWN "FLATHEAD"...

Coming soon to the Sail Inn Exene Flathead

Twenty years on from the FLAT DUO JETS, who created the template for stripped down rock and roll that’s been copped by the White Stripes and a thousand far less clever bands, Dex Romweber has teamed up with his sister Sara (Let’s Active, Snatches of Pink) for the first time on the debut album by the Duo, Ruins of Berlin. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dexter_Romweber

In August of 1976 Exene moved to Los Angeles, because she knew she had to get out of Florida.
She arrived in town with $80 in a paper bag and wound up living with 5 people in a 1-room apartment in Ocean Park. A short time later she began working in Venice in the library at the l
